Does anyone have the names of the team and their positions, and the goundcrew for the latest Red Checkers team?
I saw Sqn Ldr Jim Rankin on the news talking about it and assume he's in the team, but have not seen who else is involved this year.

Thanks Marty. Excellent info. Is there a reserve pilot/announcer in this team? I was going to say they all look like they're looking into the wind, then remembered they're based at Ohakea so they will be.

Can some one enlighten me to the 2 piece flying ensembles? Looks down right weird, and not good for strapping into ejection seat IMO.
And as an aside (since the RNZAF FAQ is from 2005!) what numbers of pilots are these guys drawn from... maybe I should start 'a nosey parkers about the modern RNZAF' thread...

Ejection seats? What ejection seats? The RNZAF doesn't use them any more.
Aren't they just wearing their jackets over the flying overalls?

LOL yeah I know about bang seats but I think I saw those 2 pieces from before the end of the Skyhawk. And if you check out the leg pocket config they are definitely different than the standard US grow bags that the outer 3 are wearing.

From memory, the 2 piece has been around for a while, originally picked up by 3 Sqn and the only other reg users of it is 5 Sqn. Personal preference I believe as to what you want issued.

The Aussies had two piece outfits for years. I can think of one advantage to the two piece ensemble though. Ever tried to take a dump in the bush while wearing the traditional one piece zoom bag? Not good...

The RNZAF actually use the Aussie two peice overalls . There are also Two peice camo flying overalls in use. Only for Operational use tho - ie Timor. The Camo flying overalls are made of a heavier material and a bit warmer to wear in tropic conditions.

Not good... Well being FJ the closest we got to the bush is staying in a 3 star rather than the normal 5 But yeah some UK helo guys wear combats so I know it makes sense. Just wondered if it was soon to be all in 2 piece.

Man machpants have you got super vision or a bloody big monitor?? I had to peer at the photo trying to see the 2 piece!! looked all one to me. (Yes I wear glasses and no my dog doesn't come with a white cane ;D ;D) yes I'd rather I had the 2 piece, I wear 1 piece overalls at work and its always a pain, emptying the top pockets of things before lowering for a dump) Nice to see a "Baz" on the team. I'm famous by association! He's probably an outstanding chap too! ;D

5760x1200 woah thats big (mines only 1400 x 1050 on a 19" flatscreen) Whats yours? 22" 24"? (We are talking about the size of our monitors by the way before some comic says something ) Does the Red Checkers patch they wear have the year on it?

Frigate means Navy ship, just like Cessna means any light aircraft no matter what variety and make.

I've been told that the Red Checkers display at Masterton last week was a take-off, one pass and a spgetti break and that's it. Why was it cut so short? My friends were very disappointed as they'd really looked forward to seeing the team.
