Wheres the galley and the coffee machine? Not a lot of clearance underneath that radome. Be no good in ChCh - not enough ground clearance for liquefaction Interesting what area51 says 5 + 1 because RNZAF page says only 5 B200s operated by them so maybe they getting extra one. I have asked somewhere else to see if anybody has heard anything.

I wish! Although the gray may not be too far off how it comes out... Thats not a radome underneath. It's a rations pod.

It doesn't need a galley, it's for 42sqn, not 5! . Pretty sure Big John would just love a SATS style paper bag lunch with a few filled rolls and can of coke

A "new" King Air 200 arrived in the country yesterday from the USA and industry contacts believe it is the first of six for the RNZAF on lease to replace the current fleet. Anyone confirm/deny? Area51 Mate can you find out if the one that has arrived in NZ has the winglets? That might be telling. Also is the one at HP ardmore a new model 250 or nearly new 200's? Actually if anyone is around Ardmore who maybe able to help. This is in response to query I asked elsewhere. Be much appreciated, thanks.

Thanks Mike. Much appreciated. The stratospheric entity from elswhere said "it may just be a short term 1 - 3 year lease with newish aircraft whilst the money is tight."

All the Aeromotive Kingair guys at Ohakea were given their notices this week and finish at the end of June. Hopefully they just change overalls and start with Hawker Pacific on 1 July!

This is reply from the stratosphere elsewhere:
"A 5 year lease - arghhh. They are walking away from short-medium patrol capability. Classic procrastination. A 3 year lease term would have made sense but another half a decade. That really surprises me.
Looks as though all the work that Mapp per policy position stuff with respect to the DWP did prior to his retirement is being passed over at the Cabinet level as BE and his moneyhawks are closing things down. It has been coming up 3 years since the DWP consultations and 2 years since the document release and the process is seemingly stalled. A "Claytons" DWP it is turning out to be with a further 3 year wait until the real one."
Comments from other people reflect little faith in present Minister of Defence. However one said as far as they are aware the advanced trainer is still grinding it's way through the works.

So are these aircraft known as Beech, Beechcraft or Raytheon Aircraft Company B200's???
(I note that ZK-KHP is listed as a Beech B200 in the CAA site)

Given all the cutbacks the RNZAF has suffered maybe Beeching is the appropriate term (a reference to Dr. Beeching who slashed and burned Britain's railways in a massive cutback scheme a few decades ago). I'll go away now...
