A friend of mine here at work stopped off at NP Airport yesterday on his way to Raglan to test a plane they are looking at for their club.
He was saying that it was flying yesterday. I'm guessing that is in-correct?

Awesome news. Well done to all those involved in such a big job. Maybe in a way it's prolonged its total flying life another 4 or more years on the end? Look forward to seeing it out and about!

If anyone was passing through Taupo waterfront todayThey may have been in for a surprise with a 104ft wingspan... The Catalina was over from New Plymouth on a shakedown and some training on the lake...check out the NZ Catalina Preservation Society's Facebook page for photos

My fiancee was in New Plymouth on Friday night and got to see the Cat out and about...she said it was so slow there was no way she could miss it! ;-) "There it is!....There it still is....still going...."

at 110kts, still cruising faster than many single Cessnas though and Beavers can't keep up, its generally the size that makes it look really slow.
