NZ 6255 arrives here (Nowra ) tomorrow via RAAF C-17.
Unfortunately it seems like they've done a gash job of de Kahu'ing it.
I hope to get some photos tomorrow and once it's reassembled

Ew. Looks better in Kahu Green. After all that NZ has gone through with these, I find RAAF a little insulting. Especially since they were stationed at Nowra. Ah well, I can understand them wanting an Aussie A-4.

What does the RAAF have to do with it, apart from the C-17 transport? They were Royal Australian Navy jets.

That does seem a bit off, but then perhaps the RNZAF are expecting something in return down the track, when their new musuem extension is built? Maybe a Caribou or F-111?

Apparantly it was part of the agreement when they sold us the G models in the 1980's that one would be returned once we'd finished with it.
That's what I was told by some FAAM staff anyway.

Interesting to see it's going with its engine, hopefully they can make use of it....!

The engine isn't going in it. I was there today for a while watching the guys rebuild it.

Have you got any photos of it going together Calum?

The mrcaviation link seems to show an engine under a cover on the loader. For separate display only?

Yes for separate display only at this stage. They do have ideas of running the aircraft but I don't think they are feasible.

Have you got any photos of it going together Calum? Kind off, I've got a lot of detail shots for modelling references. I'll try and get some more today

So, albeit within the belly of a C17, the very last flight for an RNZAF Skyhawk!
