A Buffalo would certainly be very interesting to see. It would be far more suited to an airshow role too than a combat role I guess.

I'll put my hand up for a SBD Dauntless.(Yes Please!) You'll have to go to the States to see one of those - the Planes Of Fame example is ex RNZAF.

A nice smooth PV-1 Ventura would be nice - I imagine they would sound somewhat like two Corsairs in close formation, but with a slightly more subdued rumble - the PV-1 had a more extensive and longer exhaust system. Did anybody ever record the PV-1 on video which was flying in Australia in the (early 2000s?) unti1 it was wrecked? Would be a great pity if nobody had bothered. Would I be correct in believing that no real Venturas (PV-1 or ealier models) are in flying order these days? David D

At Oshkosh this year, in addition to an immaculate PV2, there were two Howard 500s, and another (Learstar I think) exec conversion of the PV1. They certainly had the impression of being PV1's even though not as accurately finished as the Harpoon! there are definitely a number of Ventura variants still flying!

Bruce, I was thinking of a genuine warbird PV-1, not a civil conversion - even the latter must be pretty rare as I don't think there were that many converisons in the first place - and they were pretty radical conversions too. The PV-2 was also quite a radical redesign (new wings, completely new tail surfaces, and new flight deck with redesigned canopy/windcreen, and thermal de-icing), but with same engines! David D
