The latest Wings Over New Zealand Show is now online, and it's another in the "Wings Over Australia" series. "Episode 92 - WOA - Peter Isaacson" is an interview I did with 95-year-old Wing Commander Peter Isaacson AM, DFC, AFC, DFM, RAAF. He flew Wellington and Lancaster bombers in combat over Europe with No. 460 Squadron RAAF and No. 156 Squadron Pathfinder Force. Following the completion of 45 operations over enemy territory, Peter and his crew were selected to take a brand new Lancaster from Britain to Australia, during which he became the first pilot to fly one of these large four-engined bombers across the Atlantic and Pacific route. On arrival in Australia, they were then assigned to fly the Lancaster to New Zealand, and Peter became the first pilot to fly any aircraft direct from Melbourne to New Zealand. You can download and listen to the show here: www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZShow/2015/12/woa-peter-isaacson/Lancaster "Queenie VI" that Peter and his crew flew from Britain to Australia, and then on to New Zealand.

It is exactly a year today since I set out one the plane for my first trip to Melbourne, to begin the epic Wings over Australia Tour.I still find it hard to believe it all happened, how it came together through the generosity and amazing kindness of so many people, and especially James Kightly, Grant McHerron, Matt Austin, Peter Costigan and Peter Anderson. I met so many fantastic people, and saw so many museums, airfields and aeroplanes in the trip. And James and I recorded so much history as we moved around the country. So far 21 WONZ Show "Wings Over Australia" episodes, and one WONZ Live episode, are online from the trip. There are three yet to come, interviews with Jim Thurston and Bob Delahunty from our visit to HARS, an interview with Terry Hetherington from our visit to the FAA Museum at Nowra, and an interview with aviation artist Juanita Franzi. These should hopefully all be online before Christmas. www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZ_Australia.htmlThe episodes from the trip have provided an amazing amount of content for the WONZ Show, allowing me to release an episode virtually every week regularly since March! I hope the listeners have enjoyed them, and learned a lot about the aviation scene across the Tasman, like I did. Now, next plan "one day", Wings Over Britain..... that would be awesome..... museums, airshows, restoration workshops, personalities, kiwis flying or working in the aviation industry in Britain, old airfields used by Kiwi squadrons in WWII and Kiwi pilots in WWI, and so much more.....

Today the very last of the Wings Over Australia sub-series episodes went online, Wings Over New Zealand Show Episode 128 - Juanita Franzi. So all the episodes that James Kightly and I recorded on the epic WOA Tour last year are now up online and available in the WONZ Show Archive, 24 episodes in all, and loads of photos in that show pages too. I really hope the WONZ Show listeners have enjoyed the WOA Tour episodes and you've learned a bit about the warbirds, museums, airshows, vintage aviation, veterans and other topics covered in the shows. I'd love to hear if you have enjoyed the WOA sub-series as a whole, and which episodes and stories within are the highlights for you. Post your thoughts here. For quick reference you'll find all the WOA shows indexed from this page linked below. Cheers, thanks for listening and for the support, Dave Homewood www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZ_Australia.html

(leans on gate-post) Yeah good on ya Dave! It's nice to see a treasure trove of information as a result of your efforts and the generosity of those who made this trip happen. I enjoyed all of it but perhaps mostly the interview with Judy Pay. Nice one Kev!
