Practice your Aussie accent Dave otherwise you might end up in a certain detention centre! Have a good flight, I'm sure Errol will have a nice breakfast for you at the wee small hours!

And I did not have KFC!! I arrived safely following an uneventful flight over 10/10 cloud cover to a cold (13C) Melbourne. It warmed up later in the day. James took this one We went and met forum member Keith Webb of Image Control, and recorded a great interview with him.

Another episode of Wings over Australia 'in the can'. Today I had the great pleasure of meeting and interviewing a true gentleman, former RAAF pilot Peter Isaacson, who has a kiwi connection in that in June 1943 he flew the Lancaster "Queenie VI" to New Zealand (after flying it out to Australia from the UK) to fly a morale boosting War Bonds tour. This was the first Avro Lancaster and first British four-engined bomber to visit New Zealand.

Peter, Like the Wings over Australia Facebook page if you haven't already, we have a daily diary running there www.facebook.com/WingsOverAustraliaThis is as well as the updates here on the page, plus James is also posting stuff to Twitter at @wingsoverausToday James and I had a fantastic visit the Airways Museum at Essendon, Melbourne, where we interviewed two very interesting and knowledgeable chaps, Phil Vabre and Maurice Austin about the history of Airways - with such topics as various radio direction systems, automated landing systems, radar systems, early airline flying in Australia, and general safety in the civil aviation industry around the world. I have never delved too deeply into this stuff in the past and found it all really interesting. It was interesting how much of a contribution Australia has made to this industry too. We recorded a lot of material that should make a great WOA episode when it's edited. Maurice, James and Phil More photos at Facebook, see the link above...

I caught up with a couple of good kiwi aviators in Melbourne today, the legend himself Peter Rowley and my WONZ Live Show co-host Grant McHerron (also of Plane Crazy Down Under, and Airplane Geeks). Superb to see them both.

A terrible selfie of me with Matt Henderson in his gorgeous NZAI CT/4A Airtrainer, my first ever flight in the type. It was wonderful, I feel very privileged to have had this opportunity. Thanks Matt!!
