What a shame it couldn't have been restored to reflect its NZ origins.

Yes I was thinking that but with the airfield just down the road where this paint schemed Mustang would have flown from it is a good choice.

Oh dang, I thought this was the full episode. It's just a trailer. D'oh.
I'm pretty sure NZ2427 was not a "crashed museum display piece" was it? When I saw it in 1993 it was disassembled and stored at Wanaka with the AFC. Did it "crash" back in the days when Pete Coleman had it and it was flown from Omaka?

A very well made programme and a stunningly successful rebuild. He could not have picked a better aircraft to model the rebuild on, hats off to him, very few could have done such a job. Really wish that we still had some like him here.

Umm, according to a lot of people who were at Omaka - after it moved there from his house - yes it did fly. Secretly, under the radar, without being registered...
One of our moderators on this forum witnessed it in fact.
Great photos by the way, thanks for posting them.

I found the programme purely by chance when channel surfing on the day, hit the record button and texted Baz with a heads up. It was a lucky find. I haven't watched the first recorded episode yet, but the preview clip is mouth-watering. Hopefully it'll appear via 'other channels' in the future Dave.

Hello there. Just popping my head out from the canopy to say it's my fault. I'm Nik Coleman, Director and Producer of the Plane Resurrection series, greeting you from a very wet and soggy England.
Thank you SO much for the kind comments here, I'm genuinely proud and humbled. We've got to know all the aircraft owners and operators in the series well. I was already very heavily involved in the warbird scene here, and I'm close friends with Maurice Hammond, the inspiration for the whole thing.
i really hope you enjoy the whole series - a varied bunch of planes - and I hope you'll leave questions and comments here or mail me personally nik@nikcoleman.com.
I will check back here regularly to answer any questions.
One I can answer straight away - Janie (as she now is) wasn't either crashed or a museum piece - that's in the general voiceover talking about all the planes at the start of each episode, it's also a passing reference in Ep1 to Marinell, which is Maurices second P51 and was just that, an exhibit in a museum having been crashed.
We are hoping for series 3 (series 2 is filming in the USA this summer) we may get down to NZ!
It would help me hugely if you contacted FoxTel on social media to tell them how much you like the show. Lol, if you don't like the show, say nothing!

Cool stuff Nik, there are lots of awesome rebuild projects here in NZ to follow, for sure. If you do get a third series and it's coming here, I'd love to help.

Lol, if you don't like the show, say nothing! Hi Nik. We cannot thank you enough for bringing this programme to our screens. I'm sure that goes for all aviation enthusiasts worldwide. I just watched episode one and found it extremely interesting and informative. Such a project of passion for Maurice and completed to such a high quality standard. Plus going to the extent of learning how to overhaul the Merlin and developing an additional business line as a result. It's people like Maurice and I'm sure many, many, others worldwide who will help keep these aircraft flying in the years to come. I even learned why the Mustang has that distinctive whistling sound in comparison to the similarly-engined Spitfire. There are several candidates for episodes here in NZ (plus no doubt in Australia) so I'm sure our community here would be happy to make suggestions and Dave would have the means to get you in touch with the people within the warbirds/aircraft restoration community locally. I urge everyone to post something positive to Foxtel on social media, it's great to finally get some quality programming of interest, instead of the usual diet of talent shows, cooking shows, and 'reality' TV shows. Plane Resurrection is a real reality TV programme - more of the same please. :-) Links to Foxtel Social Media : twitter.com/FOXTEL_Helpwww.facebook.com/FOXTELAlso Sky TV in NZ : www.sky.co.nz/social

Can the series be purchased on DVD for those who don't have Foxtel or will it ever air free to air in Australia?

Oh darn, shame I missed it! I can get tonights episode but cant seem to be able to go back and get number 1. I helped load the container when she was leaving.....I took a few photos for historical purposes before she left and had all the paint stripped for her rebuild. Here are a couple of pics from that day She couldn't have gone to a better person to rebuild! Personally I would loved to have seen her stay in RNZAF markings, but thrilled to see her in any scheme flying again Shame I missed that episode..... Cheers and thanks Nik Anthony

Visited Maurice Hammond last year - very nice guy - don't know anyone else who has built & flys two P-51s - great home for the aircraft. Remember the aircraft well when Pete Coleman had it in Blenheim ... good to see it flying. Cheers Hvd1041

According to the Sky TV Guide, Tuesday is the regular slot for new episodes and then there are repeats today at 4:50am and 12:30pm. Can't tell from the synopsis if it's a repeat of the same episode as Tuesday, but I suspect so. It may also reoccur in the repeat slots on other days as well.

Hi there, I think, from the other side or th world, that it's Tuesday night Premiere then the next day a repeat. agalbrieth if you contact me nik@nikcoleman.com I will see, without breaching our contract with Foxtel, whether I can supply you with some clips and highlights from the first Episode. Did everyone enjoy the slightly mad triplane builder? It's Hurricane next and it's gold.
