johnh, Can you follow my last post with the graphic? Rather than type text that is already on this thread I made that graphic. Let me know if you don't follow it.
In words: Underneath any photo at photobucket are a series of options as seen in the graphic above. You need to left mouse click (select) the "IMG code". Then right click on the same code to copy it. Then paste it into your message.

johnh, OK you are almost there then. I'm not sure what you mean by "straight from camera" & "entered via scanner" but I'll guess. Depending on how you have set up your PhotoBucket account (there are several options) I would suggest that you should allow only the 1024x768 pixel option. My photos on this forum for the past year or more have been only at this resolution (or less).
Generally I use PaintShopPro to resize the photos to this standard. However I believe if you upload a photo larger than that standard set then PhotoBucket will resize them for you. Perhaps this is an issue for you. Allowing PhotoBucket to do this to the scanned photos may be the problem.
Either user a graphics program to resize your photos by scanning them to TIF format - then resize a copy to 1024x768 or lower - then resave that resized copy to JPG format - then upload that resized copy JPG. OK? Please ask questions if this explanation is too cryptic.
You could scan the photos to JPG at that resolution of 1024x768 but you may have other uses for the scans. It may seem a lot of work but that is the nature of graphics. Allowing automatic processes may not get the desired result - but that may be OK for you.

Cool it works Cannot remember the origin of the photo but I think it may be an RAF Vulcan at Tengah? in transit back to the UK. As you can see it has been zapped.

Wonderful photo Doug. Yes, I've seen a photo or two of that at Ohakea where it was tagged.

I emailed one of our newer members with tips on how to link photos to this website and he succeeded!! He had had a look at this help topic but still couldn't do it. Just in case someone else is scratching their head here's the email I sent him:
Saw your plea on the "Introduce yourself" thread regarding photos. I take it the "How to post photos on the Forum" section hasn't helped. Its a sticky thread at the top of the "General Board".
I use Photobucket. I upload my photos then click on the photo I want to put on the forum (You are actually linking the website to Photobucket and the photo itself. People don't seem to realise that if they delete photos from their albums then the link on the forum stops working.....well it would do, the photos been deleted!)
Basically what you are putting in with the text you are composing is the link which looks like this: IMG Htt// photbucket.zcom.photo123 IMG
I have modified it otherwise you may only see a photo!! This is unique to each photo. In my album I find it easiest to left click on the photo to make it stand alone. Then look to the left and you will see a box called "Share this Image".The bottom option says IMG code. If you left click on it the text that begins IMG http:// etc etc it should automatically copy it. (And will pop up a little "Copied" message beside it. If it doesn't then left click on the text then right click and choose "Copy" from the choices that appear)
Then go back to your open message you are composing and right click and choose "Paste" from the menu that appears. Basically where you click will be where the top of the photo will start. All you will see is the text as above. But when you preview it or submit it you should see your actual photo.
Hope this helps Cheers baz

I have been given this job by Peter. I am trying to follow the instructions on how to load a photo on the forum. I have opened a photobucket account opened an album and uploaded the photo/s. I don't seem to be able to get the photo/s from Photobucket to the Forum. The instruction says to copy a link from Photobucket to the post starting with IMG and to copy and paste to the forum message. I tried this and all that got transferred was the URL itself. (You can see my latest effort on the Lancaster Memorial board) I am obviously doing something wrong. Can anyone help me?

It has to end with IMG as well other wise it won't work. Just check you are copying the whole link. Usually if you have the photo open by it self (as in left click to view it) when you click on the Image code (beside "IMG Code") it should have a highlighted "copied" pop up when you left click inside the IMG text box. The right click and choose paste in the window you are writing in. Let me know if you have anymore problems. Cheers Baz

By the way, Flickr now provides the BBS code (used by this board and many other forums) as well as the html code (and easy posting to Twitter and the like) for linking to individual photos.
