The big question on my lips is, what else of interest do you have in your photo stash Beagle? The few shots so far have been great.

Oops, I I believe Curtis and a fellow 801 Sqn pilot failed to return during a Sea Harrier CAP - I read somewhere he was known as 'Bill' Curtis (Lt W.A. Curtis). The official explanation was that he and the other pilot collided in poor visibility. Very sad. That is the assumption, as they never found any trace of either aircraft.

True phil82. Haven't checked, but in my memory the event had 2 formations of 2 SHAR, 1 formation from 800 and the other from 801, being directed by separate fighter controllers on different ships. It is assumed they were all after the same bogey. In the crap weather, each form sent a singleton into the gloop while the other stayed high and clear of cloud. The 2 in cloud were never seen again, and the rest is a mystery. I agree with Dave. More pics please, Beags.

It's the other pilot's daughter asking about her father whom she never met apparently, or was too young when he died to remember. www.pprune.org/military-aircrew/332106-sea-harrier-photos-falklands-war-my-dad-e-j.html

Great "action" shots - especially that Herc low pass. Here is a 75 Sqn Skyhawk trying to do the same thing in 1984, RNZAF Official Photo

Just caught up with this thread and have enjoyed the very interesting variety of pics. Steve, particularly like your pic of TA-4K 6251 as I made a semi scale RC EDF model of 6254 a while back that is still flying, pic below (sorry for the OT ;D)

1983 is most likely, I was on 3 Squadron at Hobsonville at the time and there were SeaKings and Wessex choppers off Invincible as well as a Wasp from the Frigate "Rothesay" (think thats correct). The visiting Sea Harriers were parked up at Whenuapai. Many a pint was sunk at the Hobby Baggies club with the Pom's. I have photos of all these (if only I could find them)

I have several photos of the same SeaHarrier somewhere, I took 3-4 photos to get the whole plane then stuck them together to make one picture. But I would've only got that when I started in ATC in 1987 which was the 50th Anniversary airshow for the RNZAF.
