My share in an Ardmore based Harvard is up for sale. A new job and change in circumstances mean I just can't get to fly it often enough, and I would rather someone else was able to have the pleasure. The syndicate is well run, very active, online booking system and has good instructor availability. Share price available on request - on going monthly cost $90 (insure, hangar, maintainence etc) Please also note that you can fly these aircraft as a PPL so don't believe you need to have airline/ ex military status to achieve it. There are time requirements prior to solo e.g you need 50hrs tailwheel time minimum to be insured and a full financial warbirds member etc The Harvard is a wonderful aircraft to fly and certainly brings out the best in you as a pilot. The flying costs are reasonable and most pilots fly them just for the pleasure rather than hour building and therefore costs don't become excessive -they will feel excessive to say a C150 -but the experince is equally as excessive If you are seriously interested please either add to this thread or PM me.

Dave - I read all your info on this and wanted to suggest you try Carl Jackson from Justgraphix. He has a home based clothing/ embroidery business but very professional and does all the gear for Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Ramblers softball club, MX5 Car club and many other corporate places. Usually there is no "minimum" order and he can supply the shirts (again of top quality) as well. I would almost guarantee he could do a better price, but more importantly you wouldn't have to order "batches" - having said that I would recommend doing them in reasonable order numbers not 1's or 2's I know he's in Auckland and you're in Cambridge but e-mail pics will worjk for these. Let me know if you want his 0800 number. I have used him for years and highly recommend the call to him.

Caption for the last photo - the guy using the microphone
"Well ladies and gentlemen, before the Mosqutio arrives an addition to todays programme will be a NZ first - the WONZ Forum Leader Free Fall attempt - where Dave will plummet earthward in a terrifying manner, only using his camera gear to break his fall - have your camera ready folks this will be spectacular!"
Dave talks to the other guy - "Is it go on 3 or 1,2,3,go?"

Go Beagle! Thats god punishing you for all those years of boozing in the force ;D But seriously kidney stones ARE THE MOST PAINFUL medical issue a person can have, I know because I've had them. It was the size of my thumb end and lodged in the uretha tube and the first indications I had was pissing blood. I had it operated on and they went up the in hole to smash it then spent 2 weeks with a twisted stent in my bladder to agrivate the passing of the fragments when I pee'd, and my wife would come home asking the kids if I was better and they replied " yeah I think so he's not saying f-- everytime he goes to the toilet now". The stent came out in a similar fashion but luckily I was awake for this episode with wife and nurse watching! By the way any female readers of this thinking child birth is worse nah wrong - I've spoken to women who have had both and kidney stones was a definite yes! I hope you man up and get it removed soon Beags because if it decides to move out itself you WILL be rolling around the floor blubbing for your mother .. believe me. I did pee out another one some months later all by myself but I can't use the adjectives to talk about that adventure- however being a good crewdog I scooped it out of the toilet, measured it at 7mm and took it to work for show and tell. Drink water and massive amounts of it because it really helps remove all the small crystals that grow to stones.

Not actually - due weather. A reasonable crowd gathering and ground displays considering the weather. Gavin Trethewey and Peter did a short but very nice 2 ship display in Harvards, a gyrocopter proved how amazingly scary they are but flew a nice display anyway. Couple of chipmunks, 2 harvards, gyrocopters, T51, few GA aircraft, Tecnam and Westpac BK117 etc. The weather precluded all the rest of the warbirds and probably many others from attending which was a real shame as it looked like it would have been a well attended intimate gathering otherwise.

Sorry Darren I don't have a picture but they are in excellent but used condition and still have the green velcro for squadron patches or similar to go on. The price is such so I can sell them as they are the wrong size for me, try finding a pair anywhere for this price !

Hi, I have a pair of Sage Green Nomex flying overalls for sale if anyone is interested. They are size 42R which is a 42" chest and regular size. This would be someone in the region of 5'6" to 6' I would imagine. I'm happy to supply measurements if needed. They are in very good used condition and ideal for any aviation enthusiast or pilot. $70 +postage if needed. PM me I guess is the best way and I'm OK to send them overseas. Payment via paypal for that. Cheers CrewDog

Intersting thread indeed. The best bang for your buck will obviously depend on how many bucks you have. Assuming I had the coin and the ongoing money to sustain it I would strap my bum into a Mustang. I agree with Lumpy about the Harvard and as a Harvard pilot they certainly do provide you with a "money well spent" feeling and people love them (well anyone with half a brain does!) just look at the 39 page thread on them - however I have also been for a decent strop in a Mustang and like I said if I had the money, even though I'm biased to Harvard's I'd own a Mustang.

Hopefully someone can help me here - Is there an easily downloaded Harvard to add to microsoft FSX Acceleration. I tried googling some but mainly got asked if I was intersted in Asian women etc. Is a Harvard available free or paid? and where do I get it from. Is downloading easy? Are they available in NZ warbird schemes or RNZAF markings? Are they any good/ realistic? Appreciate any help in advance -crewdog

Feel really sorry for Greg
Well said davel and your correct it will be a well viewed piece of action worldwide. I guess anyone who has ever walked past a helicopter at an airshow will now have an opion about this but I gaurantee the most inaccurate will come from the people in the photos Darren posted!
I feel for Greg and the staff at Helisika right now but as the saying goes "todays news is tomorrows fish and chip paper" and the media, like a rash between your legs WILL eventually go away and leave you alone.

Thanks for the input so far. The other 2 guys in the photo are deceased baz62 but it would be cool to get at least dad in a "new" photo on the same a/c. I was hoping some guru would know which one by the font size or style etc. Is it also possible to be an instructional number e.g inst144? or a buzz number from a training sqn? I'm probably chasing ghosts but would love for someone to be able to say"yea its ..44 because of the.." Thanks Crewdog

Greetings everyone, After many months of lurking around and reading this forum I have now finally registered. This Harvard thread is fantastic - the Harvard has played such a huge part in NZ aviation (IMO) and great to see it has such a good following here. Please keep the stories and old photos coming in, you just can't get enough of them! So here now lies a challenge for someone. Hopefully a photo will load of my Dad taken with 2 others during an ATC camp in 1952. He is the good looking dude without the jacket on. Can anyone shed some light on which Harvard it is. My initial thoughts were NZ944 or maybe NZ1044 but it was still around well after the photo was taken. Apparently he thought it was at Weddons but more likely Wigram. I then wondered if the 'buzz' number was just that and is not a reflection of the serial number. Any thoughts??? I fly '78 out of Ardmore and in Feb 2012 I will be taking Dad for a Harvard fly.... 60yrs after this pic of him.
