I have a pic somewhere I took in 2009 of a Bristol Fighter hanging from the roof in one of the Planes of Fame hangars in Chino..... must have been relocated to Valle since then?

I have a vague recollection of being told/reading a plaque at the Planes of Fame museum that their Bristol Fighter is an ex "High Road to China" aircraft..... btw, the book was a reasonably good read - can't really remember the movie.....

Noticed that none of the Avengers in NZ have the lower/ventral gun position re-installed.... why not?

Stuff have corrected their article, and added a footnote mentioning their error. As for "false" or "alternative facts", there are plenty on this forum from people that "mis-remember" stuff, or quote stuff they've heard as fact, without doing any research first.......

I'm not surprised at the lack of interest - even in the UK with about 15x the population of NZ, there are probably only 2 or 3 airliner collections (Duxford and Brooklands being the two that spring to mind) - both are underfunded and predominately on external display. Old airliners are very definately the poor cousins to military aircraft - unless it is a Concorde, public interest seems to be minimal. As to lack of interest on this forum - maybe most people realise how unfeasible the idea is, but don't want to rain on anyone's parade?

That article does not really explain how he got on the loose, nor what threat he was posing and why he had to be shot. Hey, but at least we know Hilary Barry's opinion, thanks StuffAll. unlike yourself, as you hardly ever have an opinion on any topic to do with aviation....

As this is the same weekend as Art Deco in Napier, is there going to be many warbirds attending? Napier lists a P-40, Spitfire, P-51, Catalina, Harvards, as well as 8 Tiger Moths, Ryans and a Gypsy Moth....if the TVAL aircraft are grounded because of a breeze, will there by any classic/vintage aircraft flying?
