I have been many times and it is nothing but superb.
It really does make NZ shows seem pretty small change in comparison.

How far away from being airworthy would it be?

Speaking of the P 40 and Corsair how often have you heard people say I wish they were in RNZAF markings, Answer- all the the time! NZ marks mean that these aircraft are flying memorials to those who made the supreme sacrifice for our generation. Have you ever seen a war memorial in NZ with a statue of another nations soldier? Not often I bet! True but it may be in the clubs (and the aircrafts) best interests that it is not in RNZAF colours. Does it have to be a flying memorial ? You can even ask does it have to be in NZ colours to be a memorial? To be honest I'd rather the P-40 and Corsair were in RNZAF colours and I'd love to see the Cat in something a little different ( hence my Jacques Cousteau suggestion)

The Macchi at the 92 IAT at Boscombe Down had a radio failure during it's display on the Saturday - was cleared to land by flare.

I know we don't have anything like the machinery here but we do have similar locations! www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=95498&hilit=axalpAmazing photos! For those that don't know Axalp is an annual Swiss airforce airshow run on one of their bombing ranges in the alps. Could we done something similar here - where and with what!

Me and my dad have just spent 2k on a trip down with $700 tickets, and not even the Ardmore clang will be out here? No man, this simply aint fair. Shit load of money for tickets to a shit show. So what did you think you would see before you bought the tickets? I think the line up is pretty much as good as you can expect these days for a Wanaka show.

I agree with Dave,
A larger all day show ( maybe weekend!!! ) based around WW1 would be a winner. I know a few people would love come to NZ for a Masterton show but are very put off that that the current format is just a few hours long. I imagine the same goes for many people in NZ (Say SI or Auckland) who would love to go but can't justify the travel for just a few hours.
I think an annual large show would develop it's own momentum and could easily be the NZ air show of the year that people flock to.

What happened to the two Ryans that used to be on the airshow scene about 10-15 years ago?

I was wondering what the status is with this aircraft? It was supposed to be close to making it to Classic Fighters but have heard nothing since - has it flown yet - is it to be based at Omaka?

Sorry Dave, I did not make myself clear.
I was looking for information about the original German pilot - I believe there was a notice board about him near the FW-190 at Omaka

Hi, I hear there was a info board about the FW-190 colour scheme at Omaka.
Did anyone get any details by any chance?
Thanks TR
