My father in law ( unfortunately now deceased) was one of those detailed to clean up the mess. It said it was extremely upsetting.

Thanks for that Ron. I wonder why they deleted that signwriting. Perhaps the water rushing past made it untidy?

Poor shot but evocative bringing back memories for those of us who used to watch them and indeed fly in them from time to time.

I was very surprised that colour shots of DFC in Mt Cook livery were rare. Anyway I have got into gear and posted a couple. I hope they are useful

I think NAC/Air NZ B-737-200 series carried four colour schemes. 1. The delivery scheme wirh two narrow red bands. 2. The wide red/orange bands - NAC colours. 3. The same as 2. but converted to Air NZ markings. 4. The Air NZ wide two blue scheme.
All from memory so could be wrong!

NZ5910. I do remember taking this coz it was at the Whenuapai Air Show shortly after arrival of the Andovers. I understand that the tail marking was applied to Singapore based aircraft but I am open to correction.

Great thread Peter. I hope you don't mind me posting out of sequence but I have just scanned some Freighters and as I am hopeless at filing I can't give much information about the date and where I took them after so many years...... I think I took this at Ardmore.

Craig! What are you doing? How much arm twisting did Richard do to make you photograph TWO WW1 aircraft models. ;D

That's what can happen Phil when one does a rushed post before work!

Here's a thought. In terms of major new equipment/upgrades what have we bought in recent years that makes sense? Sea Sprites perhaps. The ANZAC frigates are probably OK but the numbers destroy their viability as stand alone force. Is the other new navy stuff sorted and is it capable in our waters?

You are probably corect about the roll on roll off ferry Dave. It's what our navy buys when they want a transport ship. Then spend years fixing throw away and buy another of the same.

If I remember correctly the MOTAT one came from Argentina. They thought they were getting a Lancaster turret.

Iain, RVHP kits are nice but expensive. You will probably find that Modelimex in Czech is cheaper. I have the kit here in Auckland if you live handy and want to have a look.

It's available in the I think, Wellington Air Amulance markings. The red one housed at Rongotai.

This may have been said before but my concern about UAV's is that secure data links are only secure as long as they are. Technology leaps ahead all the time and once data is transmitted if the other side make a big technology breakthrough your UAV's and you could be in big trouble.
