Hi all, Just placed onto YouTube is 'Land From the Sky', historical film about topdressing in the great prose and unscripted style of the NFU Boring things like avengers in target towing colours spreading fert won't interest some but still nice to see where some of the stills from the early top dressers came from

I noticed that there seems to be no live website for blackrobiresinz at the moment. After the latest Aero Australia magazine did an article on the ct4, I had someone ask me if you can get a model one? Does anyone know if they have closed down?

It seems to be the way it goes now Zac. At least they lasted a lot longer than other legacy topdressing companies, managing to survive through the rural downturn/s.
Rebranding exercise probably came from the top. Saw there was an admin job advertised on the Ravensdown website too.
You will have to finish your 1/20 scale one in your colours.

Great to see some progress being made Anthony. I dusted off the Fletcher the other day and spent a whole rugby test putting the etch brassed flap actuators I made together. Not worth posting photos but I must say I get motivated by seeing other works also getting back onto the workbench.
May one of us finish by Christmas... hurrah!

I have just ordered two of these through Hannants (Dad's was an aussie one and I couldn't decide whether to do that one or a Barr Brothers machine!) so I will let all know what they are like. The casting shots on Aussie Modeller International looked really good so here's hoping

The term 'two failed landings' does add a bit more dramatic emphasis than 'aircraft performed a rather normal go around'.
A few weeks ago, Sydney had some rather blustery winds and the rather ill informed and dramatic talkback radio station some of my colleagues like to listen to took a call from a chap stating that he had just witnessed an Air Pacific 747 fail to make the runway. He went on to state that the aircraft narrowly missed impacting the runway (not land, but impact) and the engines were making a loud noise and the pilot looked like he was out of control and crabbing up the runway! Something must have been wrong with the controls as the plane was not flying straight!
The unnamed radio station advised those near the airport listening to be cautious while this unfolding emergency threatened all of those in Sydney. They attempted to ring the control tower to speak to 'the tower' to find out all they could about this jumbo jet in trouble, mentioning that these aircraft can carry up to 850 passengers (hmmm, Wikipedia source providing a high density seating arrangement for an A380 instead?) and a petrol station full of highly volatile fuel.
As well, Air Pacific was a Fijian airline, could it be that a developing nations airline is unsafe and not maintained to Australian standards (ignoring QANTAS near 50% ownership in Air Pacific)
Needless to say, the Air Pacific 747 landed safely and when a representative from Sydney Airport did come on air, mentioned it was one of 30 go arounds performed that day and it was a normal procedure and occurs quite often. Needless to say, the conversation changed to the need for a new safe airport.
Needless to say, I did not share the same panic response of everyone else and resolve to keep my headphones in to ignore more sensational dribble.

(in best Monty Python Yorkshireman speak) And Zac you are lucky to have a driveway, if I had one here in Sydney I would have to leave it on the street and apply for a parking permit Would get a daily clean though.

I imagine these three will be receiving Pt-6's also. Unfortunately I didn't get any time to poke my head in and catch up on any happenings. Next time I am back near the Tron, I should borrow a guerney and donate some of my time to clean them up

I left Te Kuiti on dark as I had to be back at the farm out of Otorohanga for dinner. It was only after I had driven back, parked up, pulled some gear out of the boot, washed up and grabbed a beer that I heard and saw Fraser heading back to Te Kuiti. I was up when he flew over that morning before dawn so he made sure to use every bit of daylight!

Good work Zac. Every club needs someone with passion to get the ball rolling, I am sure you will attract others with an interest in the hobby and maybe a few others who might come back with a bit of peer motivation. Good luck and happy modelling.

Just some shots from the back of Super Air, everyone has probably seen similar images before so nothing too exciting I am afraid. I was keeping tabs on Lindsay in Rotorua but he managed to keep the fletcher hidden from my viewfinder by ducking behind hills, trees and hangars the three times I saw him Some of the girls awaiting rhinoplasty Vertical stabiliser needed here as well I know this breaks the heart of another forumite, as I don't like this scene either so spologies in advance... Does anyone know if the tender for these two has been withdrawn? I usually keep an eye out in the Aviation Trader but couldn't see the ad any more.

Hi mate, I don't off hand. In May I am back in NZ and I have a copy of Aerial Agriculture in Australia stored there and I think that might be where I read that detail from. It would have to be an early model as we are talking early to mide 1960's. I will endeavour to check with my contacts for you, some of the older guys at bankstown probably built it so can verify. I will be in touch.

Hi Craig, I think the tail (or some of it at least) was taken from a Cherokee at the time Yeoman (Wackett) were changing the design from wooden to all metal. This was due to a CAA Australia regulation from around 1962 I think. Therefore some Cherokee parts may be compatible.

Nice article Bruce. I can't believe from the pictures that you had so much trouble with the paint, it looks great to me.
Once again top model and a great save, congratulations!

Thanks Anthony, I am most partial to this scheme so also purchased. Just need you to put the model together and paint it for me so I can then put the decals on.... deal? ;D I am pretty intimidated to do an A4K to be honest, too many experts on here that will be able to see the flaws
