I have Lightbox bundled in with the Spark UFB package, also subscribe to Netflix @ $15 per month. Binned Sky last year. Not missing it at all. Can stream news or On Demand TV to my HDTV using my smartphone. Netflix has Plane Resurrection Season 1 and will no doubt show season 2 when it is ready to go. Also there are two Guy Martin documentaries 'Guy Martin's Spitfire' and Last Flight of the Vulcan Bomber, also available on You Tube.
I'd say Sky TV will be non-existent in 5 years time.

There's a pretty cool You Tube video of the Falcon SpaceX Heavy Booster rockets landing back on earth, complete with twin sonic booms.

I agree with Don's Skyhawk undergoing maiantenance display suggestion, as well as the Dauntless/Pacific aircraft in some kind of diaorama setting. I'd like to see the Avenger displayed with one wing unfolded and one folded. Perhaps the Bristol could have the doors at the front opened with a vehicle positioned on the ramp.
For aircraft interiors, rather than cutting up a rare aircraft, use VR technology. Film the interior, convert to VR and purchase some headsets for punters to use. Alternatively and perhaps more cost effective set up a booth with a large screen set up in such a way that it is possible to view, such as the 360 degree videos on You Tube. A couple of examples of this below.

Video is now unavailable. Anyone got another link to it? Hi Don, right here.

Well said dave. Given the many thousands of former Cadet Forces and Armed Service personnel out in civvy world it's an interesting thing to ponder. I'm unaware of any fatalities within the Cadet forces, but we were certainly trained well, as we knew that the matter was literally a life or death one when it came to handling a weapon, loaded or not

This is outright grandstanding by the Greens. The weapons on display are tools of the trade for the Army. they are bringing their tools to a local school as part of a 'getting to know the Army' initiative. The weapons have been made safe by ensuring they are not loaded. In one of the photos there are no magazines in the weapons. I am sure the Army personnel would have gone through a thorough procedure to ensure the weapons were completely safe before taking them onto the school grounds. There is nothing wrong with what the Army has done, or is doing, imho. As a 13 year old ATC cadet in the 1970s and 1980s, I learned to safely handle a .22 rifle and use it safely on the Base Wigram rifle range, as did my fellow cadets, male and female. I also safely used the SLR and a Bren gun on this range, between the ages of 13 and 18. We drilled with .303 Lee Enfield rifles and SLRs. We had to follow the same procedure every time we were issued with a weapon from the Base Armoury whether for use on the range, or for drill. There is no reason that the current crop of youngsters, given correct training and oversight would be able to do the same even now. Given that they are simply having a look at and handling unloaded weapons, there is no harm done whatsoever. Unless you are a Green Party MP closet Marxist communist, or PC wowser.

The latest news on Stuff regarding the Bristol Freighter being readied for shipment to England. The report(er) states these aircraft were ex RNZAF, and were used during WW2 transporting freight around the Pacific. Now I reckon THAT IS NEWS. I think it's what's know these days as 'fake' news. Just seriously misinformed 'reporters' in fact!

Exactly. Without the NZDF's transport fleet, helicopters, ships, survey aircraft, etc, the response in Kaikoura, Christchurch and many of the Pacific disasters would have been adversely effected and more lives would probably have been lost. Agreed Dave. One of the most reassuring sounds on the day after the big 28 September 2010 quake was the sounds of an Iroquois overhead the city. Plus other aircraft as things undfolded, along with the response to the February quake.

I thoroughly enjoyed the event. Many thanks to Dave for organising and to the speakers for sharing their time, knowledge and topics with us. A very worthwhile occasion, great to learn more to flesh out the background on Ferrymead's Hudson restoration, and the A4K's service in the RNZAF. The other speaker's topics were an interesting change into other related areas across NZ aviation in general. I wish all the speakers well in their endeavours.
