There has been much discussion on this forum about the serial number of this aircraft and it now appears to be settled once and for all, per this post by Jay McIntyre in the RNZAF Corsair Supporters group ( link) on Saturday: Jay McIntyre 20231202 by Zac Yates, on Flickr

What chance of a photo of the makers plate?

Very high...100%, some might say! This is the dataplate in the cockpit which had been the source of the long-standing belief as to the ID: NZ5648/ZK-COR at JEM Aviation by Zac Yates, on Flickr

Asked on Facebook and may as well here as well. I am sure I read NZ 5648 will eventually be based at Ardmore, wondering if she will be on public display, perhaps in the Warbirds hangar? Thank you........

That's up to the owner, who has posted on Facebook several times no decision has been made yet. Speaking of Mike posting on Facebook, here's a detailed post about a lovely pair of drop tanks that's on the way! Interesting collection of cars in the background. Looks like a Nissan 300ZX, Lancia Delta, some sort of older Beemer and a couple of Alfa Spiders of differing years.
Those Italians are going to disolve if left outside. LOL. That's what happened to mine!

Speaking of Mike posting on Facebook, here's a detailed post about a lovely pair of drop tanks that's on the way! Drop Tank Notes - Tank drains still safetied - Inside is very clean, absolutely corrosion free. - Outside seam is welded - Baffles are welded, not riveted - Ignitor clamp hardware intact, though It is recommended we don't use it 😂 Some detail on making them go boom when they have napalm in them (and once they have departed the aircraft, for preference). Toasty! www.bulletpicker.com/pdf/OP%201361,%20Napalm%20Bombs.pdf

Today the Corsair made a test flight from Omaka with two droptanks fitted, and then departed for Wanaka. Well done to the team at JEM - she really looks the business! cDSC03163 by Zac Yates, on Flickr cDSC03190 by Zac Yates, on Flickr cDSC03225 by Zac Yates, on Flickr cDSC03232 by Zac Yates, on Flickr cDSC03235 by Zac Yates, on Flickr cDSC03263 by Zac Yates, on Flickr cDSC03421 by Zac Yates, on Flickr cDSC03403 by Zac Yates, on Flickr cDSC03425 by Zac Yates, on Flickr cDSC03428 by Zac Yates, on Flickr cDSC03430 by Zac Yates, on Flickr

Congratulations to Mike, Frank and the whole Corsair crew for a triumphant return to Wanaka! She looked and sounded fantastic (the howl/whistle is back!). Mike said on Facebook they decided to fly without the tanks fitted on Sunday so photographers had the chance to get photos of how she looked in both configurations. These are only cellphone photos - I have some commitments to fulfil before I go through my shots from the Proper Camera.
