Wow awesome skills in the engineering department and thanks Zac, can't wait to see pic's of her in her new outfit?
Dream formation pic, newly dressed Corsair 48, Mustang 23 and Harvard 44 what a team???
We are so fortunate as warbird fans to have the dedicated people who put their time, effort and money into these wonderful pieces of history, thank you all.
PS and the intrepid Zac who reports and keeps us up to date!

Zac
Although it's a bit late, thank you for taking-on the task of keeping us informed.
Your work reporting on -BHT's 'restoration' has spoilt us and so we're now all looking forward to similar progress reports on -COR with great interest.
Again, thanks.

Zac Although it's a bit late, thank you for taking-on the task of keeping us informed. Given the fact the Corsair group is Private I was very hesitant to ask Mike for permission, especially given he has been rather busy with the project and I didn't wish to bother him. I'm very pleased he's given me the go-ahead. Unfortunately I'm rather unwell and struggling to keep focus but I'll post yesterday's updates and then work on some of the more notable prior ones.

Excellent, cheers! I enjoyed the last photo, but a missed opportunity for use of NAVY!

I love the instrumentation detailed photos but am curious about the Chip Detectors. Were they original equipment or additions in recent years? I do not recall them being on the syllabus at 2TTS in the 1960's, but I might have been asleep that day!

I enjoyed the last photo, but a missed opportunity for use of NAVY! Ours weren't operated by the Navy, so that would make the paint scheme inaccurate.

I'm not sure what you're referring to Errol, it looks pretty good to me.

I would question the accuracy of the current paint scheme if it is intended to represent the aircraft while in RNZAF service. What has been applied is same as what it worn when flying in the UK. However the aircraft was bought on charge at the Corsair Assembly Unit at Los Negros on 17 August 1945 (just in time for the war to end!) It was flown back to NZ and went straight into storage at Rukuhia. All of the FG-1Ds in that serial range were delivered in the standard USN "Glossy Blue Scheme" which did not have the lighter shading on the fuselage sides etc. The excellent book on the Corsair by Warren Russell has several line drawings of this scheme.

It is not representing its own 1945 scheme, Paul. The cost involved in a full repaint to Glossy Sea Blue ruled it out. Watch this space everyone.

We are lucky enough to see it in RNZAF markings as it is. Mike suggested early on in the piece that it wasn't a priority, so the fact that is has happened is awesome.

Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre has just popped up a short video clip on their FB page showing the Corsair climbing out after takeoff #viewfromtheofficewindow. The clip finishes just before the point where the new scheme can be discerned. Well done to all involved in getting NZ5648 back in the air and I am sure she will be a great attraction at future NZ airshows.
