The great thing is with these two together, it represents two of our top aces, Colin Gray and Al Deere. Was there a kiwi ace who flew Mk XIVe's for when the next one gets flying?

It's actually a bit of a lost cause trying to piece together a roll call for this show because there will undoubtedly be hundreds of forum members and regular readers attending, many of them as display pilots and ground staff and organisers

I've always had my doubts about your story, as no sane possum would have gone near you after the number of beers we consumed on the Friday and Saturday evenings. I still reckon it was Al trying to push the Bristol Frightener into your tent! ;D

Hmm, considering he pushed it round the airfield at night in 2009 and pushed it right up to the restaurant tent without security seeing, then started it much to our amusement and the shock of those inside, you might be right. ;D The GReat Bristol Sneak is one of my favourite airshow memories, I'm glad I was there to see it. The security guy drove past and never even noticed that one of the biggest aeroplanes on the field was being snuck away!

I will definitely be there (as usual). I was a “foundation attendee” at Classic Fighters in 2001 and have been at every one since, always in the Gold Pass grandstand.
Another member of this forum — Seafire (I think he may have only posted once or twice) — will be there with me. His Dad (who is retired in Oz) used to fly those big noisy Bristols in the RNZAF (he commanded the delivery flight of one of them all the way from England to NZ), then he grew web-feet and flew Solent flying-boats for TEAL, followed by DC-6s, Electras, DC-8s and DC-10s. Seafire's daughter (who is 8½) made up her mind she is going to fly for Air NZ (just like grandad) when she was 4 and she hasn't changed from that goal since. She also claims that when she is an Air NZ pilot, she is going to fly both the Catalina and the Warbirds Dakota in her spare time. She's an ambitious kid! ;D
BTW....I've attended every Warbirds Over Wanaka too, although I missed out on Warbirds On Parade in 1988.
