Just a FYI,
You can get ROF on disk in NZ from mighty ape..
But I would wait till the new upgraded disk comes out.
This comes with a few more aircraft that the frist disk did not come out with. such as the Camel and the DR1 and SE5a.
The rest you have to buy for around $7 us still cheaper than FSX aircraft.
The new disk is called Rise Of Flight : Iron cross adition.
That is the one to get, Should be released here soon.
Regards Smiladon

It certainly is a great looking game- I notice in the middle distance, the way they handle their trees is interesting: At large distances the ground texture is used, at middle distances a copy of the tree outline is raised above the terrain to give the appearance of vegetation, then a few basic models are used with a high level of alpha, before proper tree models are used when the viewpoint is closer.

Anyone see this little beauty of a trailer? Watch the WHOLE thing...you can skip the speech at the start, though...it does enhance it a bit.

If anyone's interested in giving this a whirl the full game is free here: riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=20836The only catch is that there are just two planes flyable - the Spad and the Albatross DIII. The career mode works, as do all the quick flights etc. You can buy new planes to fly on their website. I enjoyed it so much I got myself an SE5a - it doesn't sound quite as good as the ones at Masterton, but it certainly looks the part. The game is well worth a look if your PC is not too long in the tooth. I just stuck some more RAM (4GB total) in and got a new video card for my 3 yr old machine and it runs pretty well. Since it's free there's not too much harm in giving it a go to see if it will run, apart from the 3 gig download taking a lump out of your month's data cap.

On this topic, anyone in a multiplayer SQN? Am thinking of joining Jasta 5 but would like to know about other ones.

Well, since this thread has been stale for the past year I thought I'd give a quick update on some of the stuff that has happened with Rise of Flight. Since July last year the Bristol Fighter, R.E8 and Halberstadt CL.II have been released. Lots of little tweaks to flight models and AI have come with each update, as well as improvements to the career mode. A new St Michiel Campaign was released with a personal pilot package. Overall the game gets better and better with each update. Now the team are soon going to release the Airco DH4, and this year are modelling the English Channel. That means floatplanes. If you have the software I highly recommend RoF. I expect I will be for a long time.

Ok I downloaded the free RoF unlimited dem 1021b from the website and am having trouble opening it. I run Windows 7 64bit on an AMD quad core processer. It comes up saying its a non 7z archive. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest going to the RoF forum at www.riseofflight.com. Best online community I've seen (apart, of course, from this one). They have a customer support forum and are usually quick to respond. Or email them at rof@777studios.net. Your computer should be able to run it, but if it can't- the forum is your friend. Lastly, so it isn't a shock to you if you didn't know already, you will have to go through a few updates before being able to play. No matter how frustrated you get, stick with it. It is so, so worth it.

In a couple of weeks will have lots of time to devote to it (& Strike Fighters 2 which I bought on thursday) before I inflict a thesis upon myself.
