Very sad to see the Vampire and Venom out and good to know the pilots are okay.
As Marcus said Sam that is a brilliant shot, well done. Love all the other pics from all contributors too and very much appreciated by us folk that can't get there. Hope the weather improves for tomorrow.
Cheers

Great photos guys - pity to see the Vampire and Venom in the wars, but the main thing is the pilots are fine and the aircraft are repairable.
Glad to see some flying went ahead too, with the weather the way it is at the moment I didn't expect there would be very much happening.

There was a nice but very brief bit on One News tonight saying that despit weather the show went ahead, big emphasis on the Red Checkers and Les Munro, some nice shots of various A/C. No mention at all of the victims of yesterday's incidents.

Glad to see some flying went ahead too, with the weather the way it is at the moment I didn't expect there would be very much happening. They're a rather hardy bunch here in Wairarapa. I can remember one of the earlier Wings Over Wairarapa airshows (it may have been 2003) when a very nasty freezing-cold southerly hit on the Saturday, including rain, hail and sleet, yet they kept the airshow going regardless. The following day, on the Sunday (when I went), it was a beautiful sunny day and I ended up rather sunburnt.

So did they get the three L-39's and two Vampires up in formation then?

I was there, it was cold. Today was just wet Thanks all for the compliments I'm quite happy with some of my shots over the past couple of days, but you really need to thank the weather for the Hercules shot, and Doug Brooker opting to take off twice in his practice session for the MX-2 shot. Weather today was temperate, overcast and cool, with occasional moderate showers. I haven't finished going through my shots for today, but here is ZK-RVM back on its feet and getting airborne towards the end of the day: And no 500 duo, but here is a teaser for Zac ;D

We just got back from the airshow. Hats off to the WW1 guys still flying even thou the rain was coming down, cant be nice in an open cockpit! And that cranked flight line makes for an impressive shot when the corsair comes around the corner!..Magic!..Also was blown away by most impressive tigermoth handling display..awesome! Great day even thou the weather didnt play ball.

Great to hear all crew are okay. Distressing to see the aircraft like that.
Looks like a good show despite the weather. Thanks for the pics, guys.

So what happened to the other Vampire and the other L-39 I wonder? Are they both broken too?
Was there anything new in the WWI collection? I guess by now someone would have said if there was, but I have to ask.
Is the Deere Spitfire there?? I can't recall seeing photos of it.

I spoke to Mr Deere He said that the 35 Knot winds at Ohakea ment this spit couldnt make it, maybe Sunday will be better. Nothing new flying in the WWI aircraft. there was a great Tribute fight of a Dr.1 and the 3 Se5a's in memory of Werner Voss' epic battle with 56Sqn The Albatros DVa and Fe2B didnt make it up..at least not before I left at 3:30. great show though and the overcast didnt cause a strain on the eyes and made a nice backdrop imo

Just posted on the Wings over Wairarapa website www.wings.org.nz/ that today's airshow has been cancelled due to inclement weather. What a shame. Should have gone down yesterday!

"This one just for Baz - Do not Anger Teh Kitteh!" Thanks Mumbles great shots! Well, its sad that the weather has reduced the airshow by a day but you can't control mother nature. Shame about the Venom but as one Al Marshall likes to say" Man built it. Man can fix it." Best news is no injuries to pilot. So which show is next on the clanader then. Classic Fighters Omaka isn't it. I better go caress my gold pass ticket for a bit in anticipation! ;D

What a shame the show has been cancelled but not a surprise wiuth this storm that has hit the country. Terrible news for those who put so much effort into organising it though.

Thank Dave. I was very lucky - several of the shots were so perfectly in focus that the aircraft almost looked cut 'n pasted onto the crappy background!!! Lots of luck The cloud texture while a pain did provide a nice change to the severely clear blue we have to put up with in NZ!!!

Marcus
Fantastic photos, many thanks for posting. As mentioned by others conditions were certainly trying for those with cameras.
You did very well getting them, I had put the camera away due to the very inclement weather at the time, so well done. The albatross did well to miss all the fod rolling down 06 from the vampire
The venom never made it onto the truck, being covered with some camo net. I will post when arrive home.
