Chester, OK thanks. I guess Barry was Australian? I know Barry of course but had assumed your Great Uncle was a Kiwi refugee wanting adventure in the RAN FAA, McNab. ;D Can you contact me via e-mail (lucyfer@msn.com.au) or PM Private Message through this forum please? Thanks. Phil.

Enthusiast unfortunately.I have climbed all around a Lanc played pilot, gunner and bombardier.I have sat behind the controls of a MK22 Spitfire and made engine noises.Apparently very embarrasing for my 10yr old son.wasn't so much the engine noises but I was involved in a intense dogfight with Adolf Galland and managed to make a real mess of the cockpit.Lastly I have been for a flight in a P51D mustang. This would have tobe the most awesome experience I have ever had and one that I shall never forget.

Not at this stage but I would like todo volunteer work at our local RAAF Museum

What's your name? Larry Hill
Where are you from? Waimauku (which is 35km to the west of Auckland near Muriwai beach)
How old are you? 57 (unfortunately)
What is your main interest in aviation? Is it historic? Airlines? Military... I am interested in NZ Aviation history in particular
Tell us about your background in aviation. Are you just an enthusiast or have you got more hands on experience? Are you a pilot? Do you have an Air Force Background? Or a civil aviation background? I am a pilot and at one time I held a CPL. I have also done a few hundred hours in a Bantam. Currently I fly a Sting which is out of the air at the moment. The Sting must be one of the nicest aircraft aircraft to fly - light on the control, fast in the air. The one I fly belongs to my great mate "pete the pilot" it is likely to be the most highly speced microlight in the world. lets see - it can cruse at 130kts, has retractable gear, a glass cockpit, long range tanks that will let us get to Duniden from Auckland in one go, a turbo charged engine that will take us to 20,000 ft without losing power, three axis autopilot and a angle of attack indicator.
Do you belong to any aviation groups, like the NZ Warbirds, RNZAF Association, Royal Aeronautical Society or CAF, etc? No
Are you an aircraft modeller? (Scale or R/C) no
What are your favourite aviation books? Too many to list - I have listed my choices in my soon to be published NZ aviation bibliography.
What are your favourite aviation films or TV programs? Piece of Cake - TV series made in uK about 20 years ago.
Do you frequent other aviation forums? Sometimes
Have you any comments or suggestions for this forum, to hopefully improve your own personal usage and enjoyment on the forum?

What's your name? Euan Kilgour Where are you from? Born in Tauranga but raised in Hamilton where I still live and fly from. How old are you? 36 What is your main interest in aviation? Is it historic? Airlines? Military... I guess you could say my main interest IS aviation. My favourite aircraft is the Grumman Goose (although I like amphibians in general). My parents used to take me on holiday to Waiheke Island and the sights and sounds of a Goose on final onto Te Huruhi Bay with floats down and R985s throttled back is only 2 closed eyes away from my consciousness. However I am into anything with wings or rotors. Tell us about your background in aviation. Are you just an enthusiast or have you got more hands on experience? Are you a pilot? Do you have an Air Force Background? Or a civil aviation background? I'm a low time PPL(a). Thats the sum total of my aviation background. Do you belong to any aviation groups, like the NZ Warbirds, RNZAF Association, Royal Aeronautical Society or CAF, etc? No, but am seriously considering joining the Catalina syndicate. Are you an aircraft modeller? (Scale or R/C) No What are your favourite aviation books? Any aviation publication I can buy/beg/borrow/steal to read. What are your favourite aviation films or TV programmes? I like certain aspects of films rather than entire movies. For example, Art Scholls amazing handling of a Cessna A152 in the otherwise forgettable Iron Eagle is a highlight. Then there's the iconic air cav scene in Apocalypse Now, and all the flying scenes in Top Gun. A TV show I remember fondly was Spenser's Pilots. Do you frequent other aviation forums? Yes. Have you any comments or suggestions for this forum, to hopefully improve your own personal usage and enjoyment on the forum? Not at this stage, I've only just arrived!

Hi, Just found this thread so thought I'd do the intro- am really happy to have found the site!
What's your name? Ian Wallace
Where are you from? Christchurch
How old are you? 40... just, far out.
What is your main interest in aviation? Is it historic? Airlines? Military... Just about everything. Particularly NZ Sqns with the RAF in WWII.
Tell us about your background in aviation. Are you just an enthusiast or have you got more hands on experience? Are you a pilot? Do you have an Air Force Background? Or a civil aviation background? Have a CPL although I haven't flown myself for several years, too hard to justify the cost for personal pleasure! I work for Airways as an Air Traffic Controller, have been with them for about 15 years. Did some skydiving years ago and was in the army for a few years way back, so this justifies my interest in things military that stay on the ground!
Do you belong to any aviation groups, like the NZ Warbirds, RNZAF Association, Royal Aeronautical Society or CAF, etc? No
Are you an aircraft modeller? (Scale or R/C) Scale, mainly 1:48, mostly WW2 and postwar military, I seem to have spent most of my spare modelling time of late building Skyhawks for other people! Bought an electric R/C aircraft 2 years ago, great fun, but crashed itand haven't found the time to fix it...
What are your favourite aviation books? Too many to mention, but from reading the other posts, nothing too freakishly abnormal in this company... oh yeah, 'Piece of Cake', Goshawk Sqn, etc.
What are your favourite aviation films or TV programmes? 633 Sqn
Do you frequent other aviation forums?
Pprune Hyperscale Cybermodeller
Have you any comments or suggestions for this forum, to hopefully improve your own personal usage and enjoyment on the forum?
Not yet, looks great so far!
