The name to me has a connection with the Piriaka airfield at Tuamaranui Its a strip used by ag operators mainly WAW Maybe Richard was involved in ag flying in the area at some stage

As Dakman says, R A (Richard, probably Dick) Soar owned the farm on which all the ag boys hung out at Piriaka south of Taumarunui. He was a regular correspondent to the AHSNZ Journal in the early 60s (as were a few others on here). He provided monthly reports of movements and also wrote a series of articles about the history of aerial topdressing in the Central King Country.
Although I don't think he started a company, I seem to recall that he may have later been the Area Manager for Wanganui Aero Work. Another Soar whom I assume was his son flew for WAW and sadly lost his life in an FU24 accident in Taranaki.

Sold off to Airspread (Taranaki) Ltd., Stratford in May 1963, it collided with a loader at Inglewood 28Feb67. Rebuilt by Farmers Aviation Ltd., Hawera it left the ag industry in June 1974 for private owners J F Dixon & R Maas of Fox Glacier. It wandered around the West Coast for a couple of years (venison recovery?) before moving North in 1979.

It wandered around the West Coast for a couple of years (venison recovery?) before moving North in 1979. I first saw BOX in Don Andrew's hangar at Helensville, which must have been 1979 as he'd just purchased it. Don flew it for six months before the C of A ran out and a badly needed rebuild was commenced. Don did not complete this and he traded it on BOV with David Phillpotts. The rebuild was completed by David and after a short period of banner and glider towing it was sold to a gentleman from New Plymouth. He sold it on to the Ardmore Taildraggers who operated it for many years before it ended up in the mangroves in Hobson Bay on Battle of Britain day 1998. David Phillpotts purchased the wreck from Ardmore Taildraggers and after some rebuild work it was sold to Bruce Coulter. After Bruce had used it as a christmas tree the remains were sold to Andrew Phillpotts. It was then rebuilt and test flown on 31 Dec 2006. It now lives in a hangar at Patumahoe as pictured at the beginning of this thread.

I don't suppose anybody has any pictures of ZK-BOV?
Mainly interested in the period 1976 to 1990, but even pictures outside that period would be of interest.
Thanks!

During my visit to the Classic Flyers museum at Tauranga last weekend, I was shown the skeleton of a Piper Cub of unknown origin as seen here: Now the question - is this the mortal remains of ZK-BTC (as discussed earlier in this thread)? Is it at least possible to decide if this is an AgCub or a ClubCub from this skeleton?
