Roly Parsons was well known for his ballooning exploits in the mid-1970's. Last I heard of him was his departure to the Middle East somewhere. Another piece of NZ history floats to the wild blue yonder. Vale Roly I am Ajith Buddhadasa and I was attached to the Ministry of Defence Engineering Services (MODES) in the Sultanate of Oman as a civillian officer Architect. I met Major Roland R Parsons circa 1995 where he was attached to the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) who was overseeing RAFO logistics development projects. As an Architect with MODES I was closely dealing with Col Parsons in developing RAFO projects. I left MODES in April 2005 and at that time he was a Colonel in RAFO Logistics. I came to Australia in May 2005 and in 2006 he contacted me from Christchurch NZ (after retiring from RAFO). He told me that he is in an aged-care village. That is the last time I heard from him.

trees, something seems to be wrong with details for Frederick John Linstrom. If he was indeed 88 years at time of death, he was too young for WW2. According to my crude arithmetic, he would have to have been born in about 1932, so would have been only 13 in 1945. Sorry to have brought this up, is there a possibility of a miscalculation in his age? David D
