SQN LDR (RTD) John Maxted Terry Y75048 Pilot RNZAF 5 May 1952 to 10 January 1976. Born January 16, 1929. Passed away on October 13, 2023 in Taupo aged 94. Loving husband of the late Philippa, father of Stephen, Jane, Ana, grandfather of Claire, Rana, Helena, Angelo, Sam, Nicky, and Bryony, great grandfather of Amon, Kingsley, Flynn and Karlie. John lived life to the full with his love of the mountains, flying, travel, and adventures. In testimony to his services John was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air (1962). On his request there will be no funeral service. The family would like to thank staff at Summerset, and St Johns Wood who looked after John with such care. Taupo Funeral Services Ltd, Member of Funeral Director’s Assn. of NZ.

Brian (AKA) Botak,went on to instruct at Taieri where he survived with severe injuries a Tiger Moth accident. He then converted onto Bristol Freighters and did a tour with 41Sqn at Changi This included a six month attachment to Air Supply Force at Kuala Lumpur supply dropping to troops in the jungle during the Malay Emergency. He followed up with a tour on 40 SQn flying DC6s and finally a tour as CO of 42 SQn flying the Dakota. After retirement Brian was personnel officer for NZ Forest Products. An all time cheerful person, top drawer pilot and a best mate.

FLEMING, Trevor Sidney. (NZ4212882 W/O Air Gunner RNZAF 1942 - 1945) Passed away peacefully at Foxbridge Hamilton Care Home on Friday 13th October 2023, aged 100 years. Dearly loved Husband of the late Maxine. Much loved Father and Father-in-law of Jan and the late Barry, and Ron and Tammy. Treasured Grandfather of Anna, Paul, Sarah, and Tracey. Trevor Sidney FLEMING (NZ4212882) was NZ/Pacific, served with 1 Sqdn on PV-1s from August 1943, and completed second tour with same squadron (August 1944 - Jan 1945, Guadalcanal again, then Green Island), transferred to Reserve C and discharged 17/3/45. He had enlisted 24/10/42, undertook his A/G Course from 3/4/43, to Gisborne 6/8/43, to 1 Sqdn (Whenuapai) 26/8, emb for fwd area 24/10/43 (Guadalcanal and Munda, till late Feb 1944). He only served as a straight A/G, as he was remustered from WOAG to this trade early in his training. His captain on both tours was F/L F D (Frank) Bethwaite.
