I hope not. Not all those mentioned are 'speaking' though. This is a day out for these chaps as much as us. Though there will be time for you to mix and mingle with the veterans and talk to them one to one.
I had hoped some here might come along with their teenagers to give them a chance to meet veterans and chat one to one with the, and hear their stories told. But so far no-one has said they're bringing their kids which is a surprise.

Dave, I've just come across this thread, and would be keen, as would my father (also a forum member) and a friend of his, who isn't. The three of us are starters for the DC3 if this is still on. Are you still taking bookings?

Yes indeed, there are still some spaces open at the event and definately spaces on the DC-3. We still need about 20 people to make it viable so it may not happen. I'm waiting for Jessica to make a call on it. But please can you send me an email with the details of the people and I'll send you info on making the payment for the tickets. It will be good to meet you. dave_daasnz@hotmail.com

I have just put all the relevant information about this forum meet into one easier to read webpage here, so you don't have to trawl through the thread looking for details: www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/Forum_Meet.htmlI will add to it as more items of interest arise. We have 65 people who have registered their intention to attend. I am expecting several more local veterans to come along too, which should make it more like 75. So therefore we have tickets still available to latecomers who want to come along. There are several people who normally attend the annual forum event here in Cambridge who haven't signed up to this one yet which is a surprise so I hope some of them will decide to come. If you want to bring friends or family weho are not necessarily forum memebrs that's fine too, so long as they're interested in the event's themes of aviation and WWII.

Just an update to let you know several more veterans have said today they hope to attend, including well known pilot Bryan Cox,who will have some copies of his book Cats Have Only Nine Lives with him to sell too. The details have been added to the Forum Meet page on the website here: www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/Forum_Meet.html

News just in - Kevin Wells, who wrote a very popular book on No. 485 (NZ) Squadron back in the 1980's, is keen to join us at the forum meet, so that's another author who'll be there too. He thinks he may even be able to dig out some copies of his book to sell too!

Me and the boy are starters. By DC3, and happy to contribute a little more to the fare if it secures a flight

That's great Philip. We now have 16 people for the Dakota flight so we need another 14. Tell all your mates who are aviation minded, spread the word. Cheers.

Hi. Good luck to you for your big celebration. I was interested to see how the Air Cadets have developed in NZ. I was a Warrant Officer in UK Air Cadets for 28 years in a sleepy little town called Market Rasen. I received the Cadet Forces Medal and clasp and just before I retired I received the Commandants Commendation. I did my National Service in the Royal Artillery on 3.7 ack ack. Three months after demob, I joined the Royal Air force, trained as electrical fitter and joined 617 Squadron working on Avro Lincolns and the Canberra. At 80, I still work at the local aviation museum and at home I am still busy, I help my wife breeding miniature poodles.
All the best to you all
Ken
