A Visit To The Subritzky CollectionI thought it was time to give this event its own thread so it's not lost in the Forum Meets thread. Well known aircraft collector and forum member Don Subritzky has extended an invitation to the forum members to have a meet up at his place at Dairy Flat, north of Auckland, and take the opportunity see the amazing collection of aeroplanes he and his family have there. We will have the opportunity to see the progress in the restorations on the Oxford, the Vincent, and the Hinds, and see the many other airframes and relics in store there. The idea is to turn up at Don's place on 17 Escott Road (off off Blackbridge Road) at around 10.30am on Sunday the 27th of March 2011. See a map here: maps.google.co.nz/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=17+escott+road+auckland&sll=-41.244772,172.617188&sspn=29.652145,55.371094&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=17+Escott+Rd,+Dairy+Flat+0794,+Auckland&z=16 So far those forum members who hope to be there are: Don Subritzky himself Jim Mungall (Shamus) Peter Lewis (flyernzl) MikeK Peter Wheeler and a few friends Damon Edwards Who else is keen? This is a great opportunity to see a unique collection and meet the owner. I would very much like to attend but as of yet have not found a way to get there. Is anyone going up from down this way?

I'm a good navigator, and I even know the way as I've been ther a couple of times. Does this mean i might have a lift up? It'll be an early start for you I guess Zac, about 6am?

I'm interested, but at the mercy of house-hunting. If we get one at auction on Wednesday, I should be sweet.

can't you say you're looking for houses further afield, up near Dairy Flat for the day?

can't you say you're looking for houses further afield, up near Dairy Flat for the day? Having just spent yesterday moving most of our stuff into storage, and setting up in a friend's basement, I'm fully motivated to find somewhere (in our target areas less than 15 minutes commute from work) ASAP.

Right, house purchased, with settlement on 8th April. So I should be fine to come, and able to provide a seat or two from One Tree Hill. I have the OK to borrow my gf's 10-24mm Tamron, so will be able to get up close while taking photos.

Good stuff Errol, looking forward to catching up with you again.
Countdown is on gentlemen, we are both very excited and can't wait. Still got to plan traveling times, but excited nonetheless.

Dave This is one place I have wanted to visit for some years and living on the Shore it doesn't pose a problem getting there. UNFORTUNATELY for me I had already made arrangements to take the family down to Whangamata for the Beach Hop. Whilst your there could you enquire if it is at all possible to view the collection at a later date. If not then no problem, just upload heaps of photos please. Richard

Sweet, it will be good to meet you Pete.
Will do Richard. Don Subritzky tells me he reads the forum every day so he'll probably be welcoming of forum members poppin in for a chat.

I'm a starter Dave. Looking forward to seeing Don and family. I used to visit regularly when I lived at Dairy Flat.
Errol C do you want to travel together? It seems you live near me.
Also, if anyone from out of town want a bed I am happy to oblige. Only ten minutes from the airport.

Looking back, my brain was still in a very happy place, when I said One Tree Hill - that's where I will be in three weeks. However temp digs are in W Papatoetoe, so joining up should be no prob. Confirm details on Thursday?
