It'll be good to see you there Chris and John. We're headed straight there I think John. Maybe some of the AUcklanders could meet up beforehand at the North Shore airport if they wanted (just a suggestion) but we who are coming from far away will just go straight to Don's place for the 10.30 meet time. Poor Zac has to get up about 5am for this!
If you don't manage to give away all your goodies John, maybe we can add them to the raffle prize pool for the May 14th meet.

Rach and I have reconsidered our plans and are overnighting with my parents in Wanganui tonight, brekkie at a cafe with mum, check on the Fletcher, head to Waiouru and visit the Museum, overnight in Te Rapa and THEN on Sunday pick up Dave and be on our merry way to Casa de Subritzky!

We thought so so we will be able to take our time a bit more, maybe do MoTaT on the way back?

Would be better to go to Ardmore and see some flying Zac. A lot less off the beaten path too.

Would be better to go to Ardmore and see some flying Zac. A lot less off the beaten path too. Ardmore is certainly an option (as are North Shore, and the War Memorial Museum), but MOTAT2 is noticeably less of a detour from the Northern/Southern Motorway than Ardmore is.

Ardmore's not that far from SH1 really. Google maps says it's less than 5km from Papakura, and that MOTAT is 6km from SHI so there's not that much in it.
If we have time and Zac's keen we could do North Shore, AWM and Ardmore. Up to him though.

I didn't know MOTAT2 was closed!!! Hooooowl. I've bought airline tickets from Chch to do a day trip to MOTAT on April 9, 2011. This is a surprise trip for an enthusiastic 10 yr old plane junky to specifically see the Lancaster. He's crazy about WW2 planes but esp the Lanc as his great great Uncle flew them. Help! Any suggestions?

Hangar Closure
MOTAT would like to inform you that as of September 2011 visitors to MOTAT can look forward to a newly rejuvenated Meola Road Site with a brand new Aviation Display Hall that will be bigger and better than ever!
To prepare for the new addition MOTAT’s Meola Road Site will be temporarily closed to visitors from 22 March until the Display Hall is ready to open in September. The decision to close the site is to ensure the safety of visitors, volunteers and staff during a period of intense construction. Note that the MOTAT tram service will still be running between the two sites, and the Meola Road site car park will remain open.
A section of the Site will still be used for 3rd Sunday of the Month and the Trucks, Trains and Traction Engines event (Sunday 10 April). This part of the site will be away from any construction taking place. All other activities will still be running at MOTAT’s Great North Road site, so visitors can continue to enjoy favourites like the Tactile Dome, Voyager 1 and ‘I am the Last Tram’.
