When did the RNZAF get rid of the woolen(?) waist belt that officers wore with service dress? I think it was in 1979 - 80 when the new uniforms came in. The OR's also had the belt on the old SD unifroms as well. I was a LAC when the new uniforms came in and I remember losing the belt with the SD uniform so I would presume the same would have occurred with the officers. Not that I ever paid much attention to officers unless I wanted something or more the case of trying to slide out of something. That was about the time they went to anodised hat badges too which was a blessing. The brass ones were a pain because it meant the brightwork had to be done very regularly. Thanks. It's a shame they went to "off the shelf" uniforms really, because the tailored ones with the belt looked pretty damned cool. They remind me of the film "Battle of Britain". Fantastic film that one.
