In reply to china pilot - If the markings on the Liberator photo as above are AL515, this aircraft arrived in Java on 02 Feb 42 just as the Dutch East Indies were being overun by the Japanese. The aircraft escaped to Australia, where it was based at Conderdin, WA. While on a mission to New Guinea, it was strafed and destroyed by Zeros at Milne Bay on 27 Aug 42. Just thought you might be interested.

DavidD ,You mention the "air pilot manual of pacific island pilot" Page 38 in particular. Do you have a copy? could you possibly upload the pix on P38v showing the 3 airfields, Narewa, Martintar (the aux.) and Nadi I am researching the history of these sites and there is very little information available. The p38 pix mentioned sounds like it might provide me with the key to the geographical locations of the strips. I do have a pix taken from airplane which has just taken off from Narewa and it shows the Martintar and Nadi strips nicely. I only have a outline map of the Nadi area showing twin Narewa strips. Google earth shows what might be traces of one strip but would like to confirm it. Cheers Terry

Thanks very much for the corrections and further info, it's good to know! For anyone who's interested, the 'Another Tiger Photo' has my great uncle in the centre, but I don't have names for the other chaps... most of the photos would have been taken by him. The exceptions to this are the last two, and the Aotearoa photos which were my grandfathers.
