You guys have fun together up there in the 'gods' won't you? Don't worry about us poor folk in the cheap seats - the ones we bring with us - trying to sneak a view between heads, and eating our filled rolls we made the night before ('cos we had to get up at 4am to make a day trip from Christchurch) and now the tomato has made the bread go soggy... I'm really pleased for you...no, really

Obvious isn't it... don't put the tomato in.

Or make a sandwich rather than a roll, put the tomato BETWEEN the lettuce and the ham slice and not too much mayo (if any).

You guys have fun together up there in the 'gods' won't you? Don't worry about us poor folk in the cheap seats The 'gods' are the 'dress circle' wannabes who sit on the wooden seats right up the top way above the 'dress circle' elite.
An anology with opera houses would be the 'dress circle' is for the Gold Pass holders, the 'gods' are for the Silver Pass holders (at Warbirds Over Wanaka) and the 'stalls' down the bottom are for the people who battle for a spot along the fenceline.
I'll be in the back row of the 'dress circle' at the top of the first set of stairs at Classic Fighters, the same spot I have ALWAYS parked myself at! ;D

Or buy the yummy lamb shanks they have there! I prefer whitebait fritters from the West Coast Whitebait People (from Karamea) who are ALWAYS at Wings Over Wairarapa, Classic Fighters, and Warbirds Over Wanaka. That's what I always have for breakfast at each of those airshows!

We seem to gravitate to the very top near the announcers stand(near the left hand end if you face the stand with the airfield behind you). Will keep an eye out for you Don and yes i want whitebait fritters too!

Cameron, Belynda and I will be stuck in the masses amongst all the other screaming children and the odd weirdo.
Baz, Don et al..........we will look up at the stands wondering what it must be like up there for you, waiting to catch a small glimpse of a 'gold and jewell encrusted' programme. Hearing the cheers as the Corsair roars through in front of you and all we see is the starboard wingtip and the back of someones head. We will smell the Pinot Gris, whitebait patties and caviar as we walk on by eating cold salty chips.....
Actually I strongly suspect we will be at the 'refreshment tent' availing ourselves of the fruits of the local harvest!
Have fun chaps and if you feel like catching up with a 'commoner' for a beer afterwards that would be great!
Cheers Anthony

Don't hold your breath... You never know, look what they did with the P40B and the Mosquito. I won't however put money on it. Hopeful yes. Dumb no! And Anthony make sure you have your cellphone with you, turned on and ringtone volume turned right up and we can meet up when you are there. Even though I am in the elite seats if you kiss my ring you may talk to me. (Careful you lot......................I mean the ring on my finger!!) ;D And yes to the bar!!

On the same theme as Dave's post, a queen bedroom has become available in the motel I have booked for Thursday - Sunday in Blenheim. If you are interested in taking all or some nights (at about $100/night), drop me a PM. I'd also prefer a driving buddy from and back to Auckland. If I'm driving myself, the plan is: leave Auckland Monday afternoon and overnight Taupo/Turangi. Visit Army Museum for couple of hours, then catch the 6pm ferry Tuesday. Monday morning ferry, and overnight at my brother's in Hawera. Return Auckland by early Tuesday afternoon. I'm open to a modified itinerary, but note that Monday ferry gets to Wellington at 1.40pm. Car is a reliable 2005 Focus 2.0 5door manual. Again, PM me if interested. The above are still available, so don't be shy! Sent via Proboards Android App

The local Hood-based P-40 flew a circuit over Masterton about 30 minutes ago, then headed off directly west, disappearing from sight over the Tararuas.
Bound for Omaka, perhaps?
