Looks like this one got away...would have looked good in "Wings of the Nation" orange scheme. The New Zealand Post scheme though looked interesting... Note: pic taken from www.airliners.net

They had one - they didn't want it.

They didn't even want to keep an Andover...probibly embassased that they were second hand?
I remember reading in the Listener in the 80's that the RNZAF F27s could be armed with Exocet missles?

There is an Andover in the Air Force Musuem and as for the Exocet missile, maybe the Singapore F-50 MPA might .

And then there was the turbofan friendship and 4 engine friendship Haa! I remember those "unofficial" RNZAF pics in Wings magazine around that time. Oh and a Harvard with a Dart. But didn't the government of the time look at turning the F27s into 'Maritime Enforcer' variants - and arming them?

Do you think they will bury it? Considering what happens with other airplanes that are scrapped, it wouldn't be the worst fate....

What I can remember is after spooling down, the F27 props always were left to 'idle' spin...Was this just a gearing issue? I notice these days props on ATR, Q300 et al seem to stop almost straight away....Of course OSH would frown on the F27 nowadays, as ground handling crew are all legally blind and most likely to walk into them....

Could be the same reason as the Viscount's shutting off their outboard engines just before entering the taxiway after landing: the props just took time to come to a stop.

I understand the ATR left prop has a brake on it
