Nice Picture...Brings back memories of standing out front at IVC and enjoyinhg the moment...Parents always waited for the plane (F27 or 737) to go so I could indulge all the sights and sounds.

Currently they are not scheduled to Christchurch but one aircraft is on "hot standby" to fill in for the AKL-CHC-AKL B737 as required. I did read the Christmas schedule last night but can't remember if there were additional F27 flights in December.

Last year I saw ZK FXT doing a post run to CHC at about 7PM evey night not sure what flight it was PST41? But I know last year a F27 came to CHC in the frist 10 days of december 2012 at about 7pm daily. will this happen this year or will it be the 737 or metroliner? AS I hope to see a friendship at chc operating in daylight. Also what is the post Christmas schedule what times are the plane coming to CHC and BHE

I heard a rumour that the f27 are being with drawn this year is that true if its not true when will they be withdrawn

Also when ZK-NAN was Scrapped @ NZWB what happend to it? was it use for fire training like the F27 in NZCH??

ZK-NAN was used for fire training at WB, last I saw it was painted grey and parked near the jet test structure, but it may well have moved since then. As for the others, you'll have to wait and see, but I'd be putting my bets on retirement inside the next year.

NAN was painted in the same grey the Air Force seem to be painting everything these days. The Mu-2s in the training hangar were painted in the same colours. Heres a few of PAX and POH at WB a number of years ago. PAX and a visiting RAAF C-130J taken from the terminal.    POH.   |

I always enjoyed hearing the F-27s whistle overhead when I lived in Blenheim in 2007. Until then I had no idea any of them were still flying here!

As a kid, I can remember the sound of the F-27s as they whistled past Hastings while flying between Napier and Wellington. They were an exciting new sound compared to the roar of the DC-3s we were used to hearing. Although these days, I would prefer the roar of a DC-3 to the whistle of a F-27, but both have become a novelty sound as they have got rarer.
