I'm at a family do in Tauranga. A cousin has let her bloke go to WOW, a win-win situation!

Speaking of Mossie passengers, the co-pilot for that trip over to Wellington was Les Munro - Dambuster pilot.

Very nice Gavin
Any chance of air to air shots of the Mossie and Brendon Deeres Spitfire. To me those two are more at home together.

I thought the two commentators did a great job too, and mindful that people came for the full 'sqito experience, and It was amazing how the whole airfield went quiet during the flypast! And did anyone else see the Corsair take out the runway light? For a nano second the thought it was going to be alot worse than it turned out to be.

A seriously cool set of pics there Gavin , thanks. Looks like it was a nice day & some memorable scenes, including some stunning group flypasts. The DH quartet is a hard one to beat for me. Steve.

That's a cracker shot of the Venom! She was definitely a highlight, as was the rather sprightly Anson.
Full debrief from me tomorrow :-)

Jeepers creepers, some seriously nice combos going on at this show. You can't see them all but getting the feeling I've missed something quite special by skipping this show. This little outpost of ours, New Zilund is definitely punching far above its weight with the warbird scene here these days. You have to pinch yourself to make sure it's for real. Congrats Tom, Liz and all the Wire Wrapper crew for pulling off from what's appearing, an outstanding airshow. Hanging out for many more reports and pics.

The F4 Phanthom - I presume that it is a RC model. Really looks good. Hope your wife and daughter get well soon Stereo Image. See the Seasprite still has it's RNZAF branding

That is indeed an RC Phantom and it was performing as Sam and I were in line to get in. It was being flown "to scale" as it were, and instead of the jerky movements you normally see with an RC machine, it looked like the real thing.
We were fortunate to get free tickets for one day only (my sister won them in a radio contest and gave them to me) and I enjoyed it. We left as the RNZAF Harvard was taking off as we were keen to beat traffic and I thought the wind would be too much for a second Mossie display. We were in the McDonald's carpark when I saw the Mossie banking up, my last time seeing her. It was wonderful.
Likes: The Anson. Dave Phillips flew a wonderful and unexpectedly lively display, much more impressive than what I expected. The unnanounced appearance of the Venom in the four-ship. Lovely! I was grinning like a madman. Sam commented how close it was to the Mosquito in the formation. Mr Perrett flew a very sharp display, and then I noticed owner John Luff's Glasair appearing 45min later so he could fly PV270! Beaver AZB. Another spirited display I wasn't expecting. The two Vampires. So great to see the Currie Family machine in the North Island. So many RNZAF aircraft. The Seasprite's display impressed Sam immensely, and I loved seeing the A109 at last and another very cool 757 display. Free "grandstands" around the field. Wonderful. Also, so many toilets around the place. Great planning there.
Dislikes I wasn't a great fan of the commentary team to be honest. Ando was great, and I did enjoy Trevor the Brit but I feel a Kiwi should've been there also, it just seemed like something was missing. It was disappointing to not have commentary during the Yakrobatics, I watched a lot of people leave during this. I felt the waterbombing display was a little lacklustre, I know grass fires aren't really smart at an airfield but it would've been nice to have something there (borrow a smoke flare?). Not to mention a bit more commentary to do with it. Nice to see a Cresco but disappointing it made one drop pass and landed again. Kinda anti-climactic.
I enjoyed it for the vast majority, they did a wonderful job and thanks to the volunteers for such smooth entry and exit.

Per the show's Twitter feed, commentators were Peter Anderson, from Sydney, and Trevor Graham, from Winchester, UK

Got back, went straight in the pool, was scorchio. So happy to have seen the mossie (tho I did see it over Mstn on the way to the pub on Friday!). Mossie definitely stole the show, sound is unbelievable. At the start of it's take off run, where I was, it was louder than the 2 Vampires! Big thanks to the US owner for letting it display here after I had to cancel my trip to Ardmore - yay for the wings being too big for a standard container An impressive show for little old NZ, although I personally would have loved to see some real jets...

The Friday was good I thought, got to see quite a few aircraft I hadn't seen before. Hightlight for me was watching the six jets flying. Also are few spectators were asked to help shift some of the jets for startup. Helped push the Vampires and the Strikemaster.
