"Girls Boarding School" Have fun Dave! A shame they are all still on holiday ;D We cart that lot home to Wellington on the train every Friday afternoon during school terms. Then we transport the back to Masterton again on Sunday evenings. They are loud (to ear-shattering levels), obnoxious, rude, and just about every other negative thing you can think of in the context of teenage girls.
Click on THIS LINK and scroll down the page to read a letter to the editor of the Dominion Post (titled Trip Powered by Hormones) that was published in 2009. It hits the nail right on the head about that lot from St Matthews Collegiate and to a lessor extent the girls from Solway College and the boys from Rathkeale College who catch the same trains. The Lovely Lilly refered to in the letter was a brothel in a residential street in Mount Victoria, Wellington.

Anyway, it was a great day at Hood Aerodrome today. Earlier in the day it was bloody cold and there were a few passing showers, but things warmed up as the day went on and by the time of the evening airshow displays, it was a lovely sunny day. However, none of the TVAL aeroplanes flew due to gusty windds, but the other flying displays more than made up for it.
The Anson arrived around lunchtime, and Colin Smith turned up with his de Havilland menagerie mid-afternoon, so they made it through the weather from Auckland. And the Venom also turned up during the afternoon to join the two Vampires, the Strikemaster and three L39 Albatross, so there is plenty of jet action. And both Spitfires are there, as well as two P40s and the Corsair. The P51 Mustang arrived just before the beginning of the evening airshow.
I caught up with plenty of old friends and was introduced to a few interesting people including Bill Reid, Dave Philips and Brendon Deere, and managed to get a close look at the Anson from the airside side of the fence.
Roll on tomorrow and Sunday.

A good day today, good to catch up with Dave and Bruce and and and. The Mosquito still is the King but watch out for the Jet Team, three L39's, two Vampires and a Strikemaster in one formation, your never going to see this anywhere. The Yaks are quite impressive, eight in formation. Pity about the topdressers BUT there is two Beavers with hoppers. Now that's a rare event.
So if your thinking about going, go............it will be a once in a lifetime event.
Just take a warm coat.

You are all very lucky to have such a wide variety of aircraft available for all your airshows. Enjoy...

I must say that the two commentators seem to be doing a good job so far.
The next Tui add - "Such a shame Jim Hickey wasn't a commentator at WOW".

And they advertised WONZ and David Hamilton - yes they are doing well and gave KA114 total peace as she flew around and performed at low level for us! Breakfast in Carterton now at the Wild Oats Cafe - brilliant food! Emptied two cameras out last night, the charged batts up, all ready for a part day - a funeral breaks the day up unfortunately - a classmate from school here in Masterton - 58 and from "C". "Expletive"

That's right! Dave H and The Forum got a special plug from Ando. Words to the effect of 'the best little website around'!! Good on ya mate :-) Actually I find it a real pleasure to listen to the two commentators (Aussie and Brit) who both know their stuff but are respectful of the displays.

Thanks for that - they didn't show Peter Jackson though getting into the Mossie - Dave Phillips took him for the flight, Keith was in the Corsair at about the same time.

Now wouldn't that be great, if the Mossie sucked a little of Sir Peter's blood and left him with the Mosquito bug that the rest of us have come down with ...??
