The Havards have just departed from Hood and flown over Masterton in their usual noisy fashion, last seen heading in a northerly direction.

Does anybody know why the Venom didn't land at Masterton?

Errol, AFAIK it was to leave Hood this morning but its actual ETD and route I have no idea... perhaps some others will know something more accurate... I heard a wee whisper at the SVAS “do” last night that Keith Skilling has to present a trophy at the Walsh Memorial Flight School at Matamata today, so may be be dropping in there with the Mossie on the way to Ardmore.AHA! So he may well fly by over or close to the Kinleith mill today (Flightpath almost? from Taupo if he comes this way) on his way through HAHA! I will keep my ears open and not go to the Turbine Hall till a little later!!

Does anybody know why the Venom didn't land at Masterton? Brakes - lack of brakes and not enough runway length? The landing speed may be a bit higher too than the Vampires. I don't know...?

Brett Emeny had a GoPro camera strapped to his helmet during the Venom, Vampire, Mosquito formation flight and the raw footage I saw was quite spectacular. Hopefully he will choose to make it public. He also said that because the Vampire's engine noise is behind him, the sound of the Mosquito's engines was loud and clear in his cockpit throughout the whole flight. Magic...

The Mosquito has just departed from Hood Aerodrome.
It went literally right over my house in Masterton and enveloped the whole neighbourhood in sterophonic Merlin sound.
I heard it coming and managed to get out the front door before it passed over, but didn't have time to dig out a camera.

I'm sure now his flight path will include Rotorua and Ngongataha and over the Mamaku's to Matamata, and this may be an east Coast route that includes Gisborne, Opotiki, Whakatane and then RotoVegas and on. Thanks for the timing - I've been outside in the searing heat in my work blues - too hot! I don't think I will see him here... Lovely photos guys! In the next two years, I am going to have to get a new camera or two... LOL!! This has been the event of the year with so many cameras recording the action - static or flying plus some video footage by HAFU as well to come later. And with the owners and pilots being so friendly and affable and easy to talk with. Including warren Denholm of Avspecs. Amusing note - last night, he was under the bus they came in, removing the spare tyre and then changing a back one so they could get home!! He said it was a lot easier to slide them on the dry grass than wet asphalt! They are lifted back up under the front of the bus by a winch system. And at the end of a stinking hot but very successful day and weekend... poor guy.

Great shots Gavin, thanks as always for sharing them with us!! Man wasn't Sunday just something else? The calibre and variety - simply outstanding! And the HEAT...OMG that would have to be the hottest airshow I've ever attended. Didn't put me off though :-) Thank you to organisers/pilots/volunteers and especially Mr Yagen. I'm never gonna forget these past 4 months! Yep swanning about the North Island dragging a trailer full of mashed and surplus aircraft bits......surely a highlight of the last 4 months eh Johnny? (Nightmares possibly of shifting loads and Kevin shouting "more power Baz more power!" trying to get over the hills! ha ha) Yes looks like it was a great show. Well done to the organisers and thanks to everyone for sharing photos for the poor chaps like me who didn't go.

You could say that! Cliff Emeny married Joan and they had six children: sons John, Craig, Brett and Derek; and daughters Heather and Gail. That's a yes Good genes... Pete

(Nightmares possibly of shifting loads and Kevin shouting "more power Baz more power!" trying to get over the hills! ha ha) hmm, more power ? And here was I thinking that the Mondeo went well and had more than enough power. I can recall thinking about the speed and distance travel in relation to ZK-EYG previous performance. It may have been the fastest the Tomahawk has gone, well at least upside-down for any length of time. You are right though, the highlite would have to have been the road trip, - it was so much more exclusive afterall. And while youse guys were having a great airshow.... hmm, some of us were building mudguards and doing similar trailer type stuff.

Great shots Gavin, thanks as always for sharing them with us!! ...... Thank you to organisers/pilots/volunteers and especially Mr Yagen. I'm never gonna forget these past 4 months! Jerry's generous allowance to "test" the Mossie under various conditions, whilst organising transport "home", has surely brought warbirds and airshows more firmly into the public eye, that's for sure - all brilliantly captured for later by Gavin (and many others, of course) I hope we all realise how lucky we are....

Many thanks, Pete. I didn't expect him to be one of his sons. That makes it all the more good to know.
