Any thoughts on the show from those that were there and comparisons to previous years? Also where are the photos? Thought there'd be one or two up already! Sounds like the weather behaved too which is great.

I was just going to ask the same questions. How did the show go today? And where are some photos from the past two days?

You read my mind, Dave - the thought of a weekend of pics on the forum got me through Thursday at work, I've had the window open and refreshed it every other hour to little effect. Maybe everyone's having too much fun?
I've seen the Classic Flights Wanaka WACO YMF on the flightline and a Mil Mi-34 heli on static, and some videos of various flybys and the jet racing, on Facebook but not much else so far!

Warbirds Over Wanaka is coming up after the break on 3 News. Something about future-proofing the event.

It featured the sport aviation association's aeroplanes displaying there.

ZK-RMH is ex-RNZAF. ZK-CAG is ex-RAAF, and that is I believe still at Ardmore.

Yes, NZ Warbirds said on Facebook that the Harvards and P-40 were stuck due to intervening weather. On the plus side, the Trojan is airworthy again!

On the plus side, the Trojan is airworthy again! The Trojan arrived at Wanaka about 1630hrs. Just one Harvard on the field, the ex-South African one.

The hawks are parked up in ZQN.Is Wanaka long enough to take them? Apparently not. According to the PA, even to land at Queenstown they need to minimize the fuel load.

What was the Hawk display like?
And also the jet racing? Was it as underwhelming as it all sounds?

And did the DC-3 make it in the end?

Has been good so far. Yurgis and DC3 AWP both arrived today. The jet racing is good to watch, plenty of speed and noise. More laps would be better! Perhaps this is an area that can be expanded in future? The local weather has not been an issue, very light winds/calm, and no rain of any substance. Displays have been good, sometimes things had to be jiggled around to cover the missing Harvards etc, but doesn't bother. (The uninformed public wouldn't even notice.)
Many people are comparing it to their favourite show in 96/98/00 etc and complaining it isn't the same. Well, i have to say, get over it, it is still a good show. If you are bored of seeing the guys putting in the effort to share their 2x Yak 3's, Spitfire, P-51, Corsair, Avenger, P-40, Anson, 7x Yak 52's, Sopwith Triplane, DC3, 6x Jets, and everything else, then find another interest.

Thanks for that Dale. It's good to hear that the day has been enjoyable for you. Also great to hear the Dakota make it.
