So there are three Albatros replicas at Hood now? Or just two? I am losing count.

So hard to keep track! So many airplanes..they must have more aeroplanes than the RNZAF by now!

Pesuming that the two DVa's are there, the answer is three. Hopefully JNB will be outside on Saturday. As for TVA vs RNZAF, the TVA has more newer aircraft!

Oh so this is a different model from the other two Albatross? Is it significantly different?

I wonder if they would consider recreating a Rumpler. The Rumpler seems to so often be the enemy observaion aircraft that crops up in Allied pilot's stories of air fighting in WWI, both true and Biggles books. I know there were varying models of Rumpler too but it would be interesting to see a more commonly seen reconnaissance type up with the German fighters. I am currently listening to the excellent audio book of Eddie Rickenbacker's "Fighting The Flying Circus" which i downloaded to my iPod, well worth a listen chaps! www.booksshouldbefree.com/book/Fighting-the-Flying-Circus

It was a B.II (2 seater) in the AHC. The new aircraft is supposed to be a D.II (single seater). However, I believe the B.II is supposed to be being prepared for a return to airworthy condition as well.

This one is a D II, much like the DVa but two single struts rather than the V strut on the DVa.

The new Snipe has appeared on Facebook.
Different rudder/fin and ailerons than Kermit's Snipe.
Also has bombs mounted.

Bit early to decide on the weather! This time last year it rained all morning, cleared by 2PM and everything flew in the afternoon.

Right behind you on the Gotha.......... I was told about a week before my grandmother passed away that on her mother's side (Glanz) one of the relatives actually flew Gothas. I was astounded but due to grannies ill health I could not speak with her. The rellie who told me said that she had seen an old pic of him in dress uniform standing in front of his machine. How I would love to have found that pic and been able to track him down

Note the bombs on the Snipe. I guess it's a fighter-bomber. I never realised they carried bombs. Neat!

Although the weather was fine, the wind was up and the programme had to be modified accordingly. Stampe & Tiger Moth kicked off with the 'Ribbon Cut' followed by the Pfalz DIII movie queen and Nieuport Bebe. Three SE5a and Fokker Triplanes fought it out and were joined by the Camel. The P40 went up, always impressive. Fokker DVII and two Fokker DVIII also flew. The Snipe was a no show, not even as a non-flying display, same for both Fees, Bristol Fighter, both Albatros DVa and both BE2. Show finished 30 min early. Well done to Gene, Sara and the good folk from TVAL + all the volunteers for another great day and an entertaining display.
The only thing that could have been improved for me was the commentary which was very loud and rambled a bit at times. Sometimes the planes speak for themselves. Can't help the weather and there is no point complaining about the wind in Wairarapa or Wellington.
I had been hoping the newly registered Albatros D.II might have been a surprise star, but it was not to be. Maybe November?
