TV weather man Jim Hickey is seen here flying his Yak 52 at the end of Classic Fighters. Jim had asked me to do this a few times in the past but we were never in the same place at the same time until last weekend. Jim is a good formation pilot, and thanks to Brett Emeny for the ride in his Yak 52.

Great photo of Jim and his Yak! Love it!
Damon, yes that is his Cafe, and he is the team commentator usually and his aircraft is used but he says in the commentary he doesn't have enough hours and confidence yet to join the team in the air, but hopes to one day.

More fabulous shots - running out of superlatives but the photos and the quality still keeps coming. A great advertisement for two years time! Thanks Dino and Gavin And a lesson on photography and how to use one's camera to best effect. I think I need to throw my 12 year old 4 MPxl away...

I think I need to throw my 12 year old 4 MPxl away... Know what you mean - I pretty much did that for the show. My investment in a Canon PowerShot SX50 HS paid off, I'm still not a great photographer but the zoom gave me the chance to capture action that was impossible with a dinky point & shoot. And on auto setting it was as simple to use as my old camera... bit on using the manual settings I was able to get this shot. Shame I can't recall what settings I dialed up {doh!}

That would be Bevan Dewes, he wasn't flying the Fokker (just taxiing it out in prep for Gary Yardley) but he is most certainly capable of doing so and is an extremely competant pilot and already flies numerous vintage aircraft.
Bevan is 19 and a great reflection of the up and coming warbird/vintage display pilots, he already holds a low level display authorisation and flew in the Chipmunk formation during the weekend. Wish I had an LLDA at 19....... He volunteers at Old Stick and Rudder as well as with TVAL and works very hard.

Good on him. The warbird community needs more people like him.

Thought he looked familiar, Bevan was a student at the ATC National Aviation Course a few years ago. Good to see he's doing so well
