I think the reason Bevan looks so young is we are all so old ha ha. Great to see someone with an obvious passion for vintage aircraft getting involved!

Ironic isn't it - young Bevan is probably closer to the age that most of the pilots in WW1 and WW2 would actually have been, rather than the age of most of today's display pilots. Good on 'im.

Good grief, there are some outstanding images here! The classic aircraft scene in NZ is certainly well publicized on this forum. Well done y'all

Thought he looked familiar, Bevan was a student at the ATC National Aviation Course a few years ago. Good to see he's doing so well Ha, yep I sent him first solo. Nice young chap, he stood out as being extremely passionate about all things aviation. Great to see him doing so well.

I hope he is a member on the forum, or has been made aware of it. We can do with young guys like him here.

I have made it a regular visit after the airshows to come and see the photos everyone has taken - a great way to see it from other perspectives. There are so few younger people coming through that's for sure. I think they will always find suitable pilots to fly the various machinery. I mean, there are a lot of very talented pilots around under the age of 40 that have a suitable background and go to/participate in the airshows and events around the Country so surely some of these will play a more prominent role in years to come. The fact is, the vast majority of young people just do not identify with this type of flying. They are generally more focused on a career in the industry which obviously is the most important thing. Very few are interested in the roots, the history, the older technologies associated with a bygone era. It is a shame, but it is the way it is and no different to any other field of human endeavour I would say. Despite all that, there are enough young guys coming through for the future of warbird flying. One of my students is 17 and doing a great job. He has been around the Microlight scene for years already, and can fly taildraggers quite safely solo. I haven't met Bevan but good on him for getting involved so young. Just fly taildraggers. Andy

I got you mate!!! Was trying to get a couple of crowd shots on the way out to shoot the Yak 3 pair but it did not really work. Is going to be a great Warbirds calendar for 2014 with this pair, Fw 190 and Mk IX Spitfire together as well as Sopwith Camel and Pup so will need to get started on that soon and thanks for the pic!!

I did hear last Sunday that a Spitfire had suffered an " incident " whilst returning from Omaka resulting in a prop strike . I didnt want to repeat it in case it was just a rumour , but it seems not . Fortunatly it doesnt look too bad

Unfortunately these types of aircraft are a bit twitchy landing especially if the ground is a bit undulating. Hope she flies again soon!

Ouch with that prop strike....... probably nil engine problem but the cost of the new blades would empty even a very large piggy bank.

A few more of mine from the Saturday, a few different angles.... Marty Nicoll in the driver's seat of the Bristol Freighter for the lunchtime engine run. The RSA Veterans tent Not what you normally expect to see in the Harvard park! This was one of my favourite displays of the airshow, the Friendship! Pilot Phillip Wilson gets ready for his NH90 display An actual T-6 I believe rather than a Harvard. Am I right? Anson display shots
