Hey Gav, that is a cracker shot mate.
Love that 6sqn Hurricane. I had a very good friend who flew the Tank Busting Hurricanes with 6sqn. He flew JV-X because he reckoned "X" marked the spot. They used to have a lot of down time and to relieve boredom they would have races, to the point where some of the guys would polish up their planes for extra speed etc. One time doing a 'beer run' his wingman selected a wrong tank (belly tank) and sucked beer into the engine and belly landed. When they went out to pick him up he was completely drunk on the beer in the tanks, because he had to wait so long! Aah I miss Reg, he was a top bloke and had some great stories.
Thanks again for the photo updates and bringing back some fond memories of my friend
Cheers Anthony

That Hurricane is a beautiful aeroplane and the big guns in the wings are impressive.

I really like that nose art as well. Desert Hurricane looks great! Time for a Mosquito Coffee table book Gavin! My coffee table has space (beside my copy of Precious Metal and Portraits of American Gun Owners in their Homes!)

The last two photos I have not seen before. Lovely one of the Hurri with the egg shell blue underneath, and a fresh look at KA114 - just lovely! Thanks.

I believe they call that colour Azure Blue, used in the Mediterranean region. I think it's a superb colour.

That formation change sounded incredible, we were a bit closer than it looks. Really like this one though, not sure why but the lighting, and background etc just completes it. Warren Denholm was flying in the Mossie and took this photo of the B-25, not a bad keep sake!!

Wow, that last head-on Mossie shot is outstanding. You're right about the background and lighting, it's really evocative and could be 1944 over France or Belgium.
That's so neat that you have a shot of yourself in the Mitchell too.

Lovely shots - cool profile of the mossie! She's built so perfect. Wartime builds would have been quite rough by comparison, surface imperfections etc. KA114 seems so well made and such a gorgeous shape too! A great ambassador of the type

Just need to get Warren Denholm out of his polo shirt & baseball cap combo and into some period flying uniform Also, the modern white bone-dome looks a bit out of place on the pilot (Mike Spalding?). I assume Mozzie pilots wore leather flying helmets during WWII... At least Keith Skilling and Dave Phillips used Campbell Classics helmets which have that distressed leather look over a modern hard shell. They look great in the shots where the pilots are clearly visible.

I guess the pilot has to fly in what is comfortable and safe for them. The pilot was Mike Spalding, an exceptional aviator.

No criticism of Mike intended. It was more a few thoughts on how much the photo looked like a WWII view of France. Like seeing a digital watch on the wrist of an American Civil War era person in the movie "Glory" All just a bit of fun
