With serials available in the 1100, 1600, 1800 and 1900 ranges, it still leaves plenty of options without repeating a serial and giving the type it's own unique spot in history.

Well, I guess it's CAF's train set and he can do what he likes. Doesn't change the fact that the list if numbers is finite. Are you seriously saying that it is a serial number that gives an aircraft its unique spot in history? Riiiiiiiiigggghhhht.

If one or two of the T-6Cs appear at the RIAT that won't be a new things as in 1992 one of our new Macchi's was flown from Italy and carried out a flying display by the company test pilot. Another Macchi appeared at the Paris airshow, and if you go back even further Strikemaster NZ6361 was seen at an air display before coming to NZ

I was at Farnborough in 2010 and a RNZAF A109 was on static display. Pictures are on this forum somewhere

The Macchi at the 92 IAT at Boscombe Down had a radio failure during it's display on the Saturday - was cleared to land by flare.

If they do have the NZDF aircraft there I cant imagine them being anything but on static display. Not the done thing to wring the customer's aircraft out doing flying displays before they have even been accepted -would you like your new car to have been used in a drifting display before you got your hands on it? With the shoe on the other foot, i am very pleased and grateful that Mr Yagen (and numerous others in similar vein) allowed his new "car" to be displayed to us before he got his hands on it.

True, but then you are talking private individuals/syndicates Vs the NZ Govts willingness to see the aircraft displayed or delayed. RIAT is in July isn't it? Its May now, so its pretty close, 10 weeks or so. I don't think the first aircraft are even due in NZ til September are they? I believe those first two are going to be used to train the maintainers on, so there wont be much flying activity after they first get here.
I guess it depends on a) whether or not the aircraft are even completed by July, and b) whether the NZ Govt is prepared to entertain any delays in delivery and schedule to let the lolly lickers in UK get a gander at them while they are on their way home.
If so - cool. As others have said; there is precedent of NZDF acft appearing at various shows prior to delivery. If not - still cool. They'll get here when they get here and we can all have a good look then. I dare say they will have some sort of presence at Omaka or Wairarapa next summer?

My understanding is that Beechcraft retain ownership of the first couple of airframes for use as intro into service.Maybe transfer ownership down the line,so they would actually be Beechcraft owned aircraft at the display time, even though in RNZAF colours.

Hmmm, well if that is the case then that would make for a fairly unique photo op - T-6Cs in RNZAF livery but with a US FAA 'N' number on them as well (if they are still Beechcraft aircraft at that time then they will need an N number to fly)
Reminds me of when the ex RAN A-4G Skyhawks arrived - for a short time it looked like the RNZN had some A-4s! (as the aircraft had the kiwi roundel on them but still had the word NAVY on the fuselage from their RAN livery)
I guess all will be revealed come July ....... or not.

Most probably have N numbers. Interesting to see if they get air ferried or air freighted. By the way, all the new Kamans now have N registrations.

The Strikemaster that was at the Pom airshow wore RNZAF markings and a G-xxx rego, I'm sure. I have seen a photo of it in such.

The first 2 airframes are due in NZ around July for Mainainer training and remain the property of Beechcraft, the next 2 arrive in Oct/Nov?? and all 4 frames at that point are officially handed over/accepted by the NZ Govt and enter service with the RNZAF. That's my understanding of the initial deliveries.

Will the aircraft fly to NZ across the Pacific? Or be shipped? How did the demonstrator get here in 2012? Was it flown here?

Didn't read that on the article unless you mean each tranche is 4 aircraft. I did read that they will have 7 aircraft at Ohakea in December

Yes Beagle that is how I read the article - a tranche being a part of a whole
