Colyaer Freedom in Oz

For over 30 years Catalinas, Sunderlands and Sandrighams alighted and took off from
the clear waters of Lord Howe Island's lagoon out in the Tasman. While not close to the
majesty and grace of the big boats a little bit of seaplane magic has returned to be based
on the island. Plan to get some better pic's down the track, closer and from inside as well!

great to see Seaplane operations back at Lord Howe. Not quite as impressive as a Sandringham mind you, but its always good to see pics of flying boats in front of those mountains!

Oh, a composite construction machine, - similar to the Jabiru amphib we saw in action last weekend. This thing looks more suited to the job. Wishing you guys all the best with the venture. The hangar is going to be a real asset. Are there plans for more ?

Had a great day around 1pm local time did around ten touch and goes in my mates Colyaer
Freedom, awesome thing to do and as you can see a cracking day out in the Tasman today!




Did a full stop and taxied around for a bit.




Couple of views of the 3,000ft airstrip.


The daily Qantas Dash 8 200 was in while we were airborne.


840 odd nm in that direction the land of the long white cloud!


Short finals, those big skid marks in the second pic are from the Herc that was here yesterday.


Tucked up safely in her hangar, what an awesome little machine!
