with the engine failure at low level and emergency landing on a very short remainder of the strip. Well done to him for perfect control in the situation. I've heard of a few Tiger Moths having the engine cut out at idle and then the airflow not being enough to get the old Gipsy to turn over. Sounds like Mr Phillips had it well in hand. Unless he decided to put it into the routine and flick the mags off when he was ready!

That's an interesting effect you have captured on the Yak Dave. Was she running or just starting up?

It had just taxied in after its display and was idling. My camera will detect an over-bright background and it takes several snaps in a row quickly each with a different setting, then calculates and cherry-picks all the best balanced bits from each snap and combines them all into one complete shot (all in about 1.5 seconds total). This is the first time I have done this with a running aeroplane and the results were, well, interesting.

Hi Dave, The guy setting up the smoke and pyrotechnics bought 5 guys out onto the field and let two fire the rifle off, they were there for a a period of time while he showed them the rifle and its operation.

Fantastic you guys. Man I really wish that I could have been there to enjoy that show. I am guessing that it was relaxed and professional - just what I like. Dave, I could view every one of your pics but not one of the other forumites were visible...... #@*^%$* computers ! Perhaps I should pencil in that weekend for next year as our Queen's Birthday holiday is not till this weekend. We do have a number of Queens over here but I still speak of Mage .
