Well just 3 more sleeps until we are off to the UK for a month. We start with 2 days at RIAT (the Friday and Saturday shows) and then do Flying Legends at Duxford next Sunday. Anyone else on here going to either?

Have a great trip Don, I did this in 2011 and had a blast. Both RIAT and Flying Legends rate first equal as my favourite all time airshiows I'm sure you have done your homework but try to stop in at Bruntingthorpe if you get the chance, oh and East Kirkby and...... Well the list us endless! Enjoy mate.

Yeah I have a fairly long list of places to visit and I know I won't get to all of them, having to fit in with the Mrs' to-do list (which doesn't include any aviation related places!). We went to the UK for the first time 2 years ago so I have already ticked off quite a few on my bucket list :+)

I'm needing some hints for next year so I'm all ears!! I do have a friend of a friend living at Fairford (I have met him and do get on with him and his wife well!!) and my first friend is nearer to Bristol. I'm a member of the RR Historical Group so some things there to follow up on. Good luck all of you and enjoy!!

Hi Don
If you get a chance, go to Shuttleworth as well. This is down the road from Duxford and offers the opportunity to see golden age, WWI and Edwardian. I saw the Lysander flying there as well, much bigger than I expected! There are several tiger moth club events on around that time as well.
cheers
Simon

So, is Gavin going to Duxford to give us wee mortals something to look at when he returns?

Thought about it but Mr Yagen was so good to me back in May and shot 12 WW2 fighters and bombers air to air for him which was fantastic so decided that is enough for this year with another trip somewhere else planned for later in the year. Might get over to the UK next year and by not going this year there is an opportunity I turned down which I might regret one day but it has been a great year so far.
Really looking forward to seeing the images from those who are there.

Speaking of RIAT, our Chief of Air Force was seated next to ex-RNZAF Red 6 at the gala dinner.

Not sure if this link will post correctly... A distant cousin is in the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and took a cracking air-air shot on the weekend - from the Lancaster to a Spitfire in formation. Would have been 'awesomer' if it was his pet project Spitfire TE311 G
