SHOW POSTPONED Due to our show producer unexpectedly heading away tomorrow in his Chipmunk the shows for tomorrow had to be cancelled. Thanks Errol. A few first minute technical difficulties but we managed to get it together for the first ever all-Australia episode.

In today's episode of the Wings Over New Zealand LIVE Show, Dave Homewood presents some recordings from the Wings Over New Zealand Forum Meet held last weekend in Auckland, New Zealand. We hear from WWII and postwar Royal Air Force veteran Dick Lambert, who was one of the pilots who flew Avro Lancaster bombers during the making of the world famous 1954 classic film "The Dam Busters". We also hear an update on restoration projects at Avspecs Ltd from Warren Denholm. And Dave talks about a very special flight he experienced on the weekend, in a Supermarine Spitfire.

The Wings Over New Zealand LIVE Show is back with another show for May 2016, tomorrow at 1.00pm (NZ time). Grant is away but Dave is joined by aviation journalist Nick McIndoe with some news from the kiwi warbird scene. And the feature story this month is marking 75 years since the first flight of the Lockheed Hudson medium bomber in New Zealand service. This aircraft type was revolutionary in military aviation in New Zealand and was the first bomber type that RNZAF was able to take to the fight on the front lines during the Pacific War. Dave interviews two aircrew members who served on the same crew during WWII, navigator Ron Wilson-Walker and wireless-operator/air gunner Merv Davies. They served in No. 3 (General Reconnaissance) Squadron, RNZAF, flying from Guadalcanal with the famous Cactus Air Force. www.warbirdradio.com/

The next Wings Over New Zealand LIVE Show will be broadcast live tomorrow, Wednesday 15th of June at 1.00pm (NZ time), (or 8pm Eastern on Tuesday for the US listeners). The date of 15th of June 2016 is exactly 50 years to the day since the arrival in New Zealand of NZ3801, the first RNZAF Bell Iroquois helicopter. The type revolutionised RNZAF operations and became an icon in New Zealand skies as it operated with the NZDF and many civilian organisations in an incredibly wide variety of roles. The Iroquois fleet recently retired and the individual helicopters have either now gone to museums or been shipped to the USA to new owner Dakota Air Parts.
But in the show we will remember the glory days of the Iroquois. I will be speaking live to our guest Des Gyde who spent years on No. 3 Squadron, first on the maintenance side as a Safety and Surface Technician from 1976-1978, and then he remustered to become a Helicopter Crewman trade in 1980, and he served in that capacity for six years. He then remustered again to Air Ordnance serving on the No. 5 Squadron Orions, and he ended his Air Force service working in the Aviation Medicine Unit.
Des will tell some great memories of the Iroquois. He went twice with the type to Antarctica, served at Hobsonville and Wigram in them, and he also served in Singapore with the SUS or No. 141 Flight Iroquois helicopters.
