Temora Aviation Museum has announced that the date for the 2015 bi-annual Warbirds Downunder is 21st November. Although nothing has been firmed as yet for the display programme you can guarantee a plethora of warbirds from both the museum's collection and across Australia together with military participation as occurred at the last Warbirds in 2013. Lots of new restorations here can guarantee another "That's Gold" event. Anyone planning to go should make a booking now as accommodation runs out very quickly after this announcement is made.
Would be great to see another Kiwi contingent there next year

News from the front !
Warbirds Downunder 2015, Set to be Bigger and Better
The Temora Aviation Museum is excited to announce that Warbirds Downunder 2015 will include an Evening Airshow on Friday 20th November to complement the full day Airshow on Saturday 21st November 2015. The decision was made to add a Friday Evening Airshow to enhance the Warbirds Downunder experience for the many visitors who descend on Temora for this biennial event. Organisers said that with so many Warbird aircraft scheduled to take part, the addition of the Friday Evening Airshow will ensure that they can all be comprehensively displayed. Warbirds Downunder is a biennial airshow hosted by the Temora Aviation Museum at the historic WWII Temora Aerodrome. It is held with the support of Temora Shire Council, Destination NSW and community organisations and is a significant event for regional NSW. Museum Chief Executive, Kenny Love, said “This is something that we have wanted to do for quite some time now. We have received so many requests for a Friday Evening Airshow and what better opportunity than to include it as part of Warbirds Downunder. Over the years, we have been fortunate to receive fantastic support from other organisations and private Warbird owners who bring their aircraft to participate in Warbirds Downunder, and we are really looking forward to hosting this event in November. We will keep visitors informed as plans unfold and release a program of events closer to the Airshow.” With this announcement the Mayor of Temora Shire Council, Rick Firman was delighted and commented “Temora Shire Council, together with our community, is thrilled with the announcement to expand WARBIRDS DOWNUNDER 2015 to include Friday, as well as Saturday. This is great news for Temora Shire, especially for our local businesses. It is not only Temora Shire that benefits from WARBIRDS DOWNUNDER, but the entire Riverina region – and beyond! We warmly commend the Temora Aviation Museum team on this initiative. We know it will be bigger and better than 2013. The Aviation Museum is truly a jewel in the crown of Temora Shire and we remain grateful to them for all they do”. The exciting addition of a Friday Evening Airshow is certain to be popular with visitors and further promotes Warbirds Downunder as a destination Warbird Airshow in regional Australia. With tickets going on sale from 10am May 5th, 2015, visitors are asked to stay tuned to the Airshow website for updates as they are released.

This is a show that I would really love to go to, Teresa is keen too as we both enjoyed our flying (groan)visit way back in 2010. Teresa got made redundant last year and is trying to get into Admin work here in Christchurch and once she is working again this will free us up financially to do something like this. I'm keen to see if one of my Auster buddies over there is on to fly into Temora (I'll dangle inducements like our winning personalities..............and Avgas money!). My must see in the display is the Hudson, having been close to three of them (and actually had a little peek inside the Temora one)it would be fantastic to see and hear one fly.

This seems to have become a 'must see' event put on by our enthusiastic cousins. Think I better start saving...
Baz, I agree with you - the Hudson is a major drawcard for me too. I hope there is a similar future for the one in the Reid's care

G'Day All, For those that may not have seen the thread in the header, there's going to be an Australian WONZ style forum meet, most likely on the Saturday evening of the Warbirds Downunder airshow. We suspect a few people might be there! A second potential meet would be at the RAAF Museum, Point Cook, the week before the Temora show, if there's enough interest. We are fund raising, your help much appreciated! details: rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/23051/launching-wings-over-australiaDave would also be pleased to catch any forum members we can as we progress. At the moment, general plans are the main aviation sites in Victoria, Temora, obviously, and Canberra. Here's a chance to say G'Day! James

So it looks like I will be at the Temora airshow, Warbirds Downunder!! Fantastic, thanks to everyone who's helped in this mission.
Who will be there? I'd love to catch up with many of you there, especially at some sort of forum meet gathering if possible.

Great list. Why does the RAAF have a hot air balloon? Is this for publicity purposes only? Or is there an operational capability to it?
