I'm at Taihape for work and a 180 or 185 blared by not long ago. How timely! Lovely work, Harry! It's so great to see someone doing civil Kiwi stuff.

I'm very jealous! Did they ever have an Auster? Wash your mouth out with soap....they had four of them. And the bloke who owns Map World in Christchurch (Neville somebody - Jones??) owns one of the two original Auster skiplanes (although without skis these days). Well, he did when I was talking to him about it ten years or so ago, so I presume he still owns it. The other of the two original Auster skiplanes is hanging from the ceiling in the Sir Edmund Hillary museum annex at The Hermitage Hotel at Mount Cook Village.

I only know Paul by association, but there is a man who can tell a story or two! Paul was an LAC in the Skin Bay at 1 RD Woodbourne when I was the Sergeant i/c in the late 1970s. I catch up with him at most airshows

I picked up a belly pannier for a Cessna 185 directly from Lars while I was in Alaska last month, Makes MIT look that much better 2 by Harry Follas, on Flickr 1 by Harry Follas, on Flickr

I've been chipping away quietly at the last Cessna 180/185 VacForm which I picked up from Lars Opland while passing through Wasilla Alsaka. This one is Cessna 185 ZK-CCX on Edo 2960 floats in colors of Southern Scenic Air services in late 1960s... The Floats are separately available resin castings (just like the skis & pannier used previously). I'm thinking I may need to order some more, maybe build a 'working' 180 yet, one of the various Ag Cessnas This is a really good little kit! Agreed, that is my favourite one yet! Great colour scheme. Southern Scenic was Don Nairn's company, wasn't it?

Beautiful work Harry, and the shot of all four together gave me a big smile.

I think Southern Scenic grew out of Popeye Lucas's little company didn't it? Just relying on memory here, which was something like Queenstown Air Trips or some such.
