Sounds like another great weekend at Hood!
Dare I ask if the DH.4 has made an appearance at all?

WOW....what an awesome day. It started off grey and a bit chilly, but totally still & calm.
Throughout the day, the cloud gradually disappeared until it ended up clear blue skies and sunshine.
Virtually everything that was pulled out of the hangar flew today. The red-nosed Sopwith Pup, the Sopwith Camel Replica, the Sopwith Triplane, the Fokker D.VIII's, the D.V Albatros, the S.E.5a's, the Avro 504K (twice), the black F.E.2b (twice), the DH5, the B.E.2c (see the link to the photo by Errol), the B.E.2f, and the crowning glory right at the end of the day: the Hanriot HG1. A perfect ending to the last day of TVAL flying days for the season.
Roll-on November when it all begins again....who knows what will have appeared as additions to the collection by then.
I've got to go to bed early (gotta get up not long after 4:00am to have breakfast, get showered & dressed, then to head over to Petone for the Railway ANZAC Service in the morning), so I may or may not get some photographs posted tonight (and possibly some videos uploaded to YouTube), but if not tonight, I'll try to get some photographs up tomorrow afternoon.

The Hanriot flew? That's awesome! Yes, it sure did. Somebody asked Gene near the end of the day if there was any possibility to see the Hanriot flying and he asked a few of the boys to go and pull it out of the hangar, then made a comment “that's what happens when you ask to see something and conditions are perfect for it!” I was standing right there when he was asked. As soon as people realised what was about to happen, there were plenty of smiles all around amongst the crowd.

Thanks very much Bruce!
Note there is a typo in the YouTube description for these.

Many thanks for showing those. Am I correct in thinking that some of these aircraft have no zero-throttle position and so ignition "blipping" is used to control the beasts on the ground?

There was a German chap at Hood both days who had arranged a camper-van holiday in NZ for himself and his wife with the specific intent of attending TVAL's final flying-weekend of the season with the rest of the NZ holiday as a sort-of tack-on. I didn't get his name (even though I had a few good conversations with him), but other forum members were also talking with him and somebody may have got his contact details.
Yesterday, he was practically in rapture over what he was seeing, experiencing and observing flying. It was actually quite amazing to see how much he was enjoying himself. He was particularly enthralled by the rotary engine powered aeroplanes. There was actually seven rotary-powered machines flew yesterday, some of them multiple times.
Who'd have believed it twenty years ago, eh?

There is a photo of you and our German Friend on the TVAL facebook page. No doubt we will see him again.

Just a note that I am likely to be too busy with other stuff to put up more than a couple of photos before I head off to Wings Over Illawarra on Thursday morning, so I'm looking forward to more from others, especially from after I had to leave!

According to the extremely friendly volunteer I chatted to about the DH4 the logo is indeed "Old Dutch Cleanser" related. I will not post many in flight shots as others have better talent and equipment for the job - KTJ did amazing work getting the contrast sorted on his shots of the Saturday flying. My girlfriend is chief photographer so most of these are hers, but I got a few shots on my point and shoot: Delicious clouds of castor oil from the Bebe on start-up
Bebe on the wing in a patch of blue early Saturday afternoon And at rest later in the day The RFC line up And the opposition. That LVG is just gorgeous.
The view from the top of the Old Bill bus provided some good angles The bus also provided some dodgier angles
Se5a pilot The interior of the hangar is, no exaggeration, a magical world of wonder
And then it was time to go home.

Right, getting back to it! After the frustrations of February, it was great to see Jess start without too much trouble, and do a flight with a Pup and the Nieuport! I've got video of the taxi out, and back, as well as a couple of clips of Gene answering questions - I'll edit those together later. I think James's photo is from the later flight (which I left before), so has the benefit of blue skies!
