I have added another confirmed speaker to the Subritzky event, Frank Culliford, a WWII Corsair pilot. More to be confirmed soon. I hope we get a few more people actually indicate they are coming because right now we have not even got to double figures and I am on the verge of cancelling the event due to a lack of interest. Would like to go but travelling at the time

Gather people for sure, the more the better.
I have just added another confirmed speaker, Ron Wilson from MOTAT will talk about the Sunderland restoration as it nears its completion.

I'm disappointed to hear that, Dave. Hopefully more people step up and commit.

Note - new details of confirmed speakers have been added to the first post in this thread, plus the payment details. Please take a look.
We are still well down on confirmed numbers. If you intend to come and have not yet let me know, TELL ME NOW please. It is NOT looking good. I'd really hate to have to cancel after all the worked that has gone in. I'm frankly astounded by the lack of interest shown given the previous popularity and success of the Auckland forum meets in 2011, 2012 and 2014. This event is on the brink. Don't let it fail please. We have a lot of great stuff in store.
Let me know NOW if you're coming, and rally your aviation friends to also come along.

Dave has asked me to talk on a fascinating subject - one of the missing planes that I have researched and spent time looking for - Tiger Moth ZK-AJV - 7th June 1947... (along with Gary Soden, who solely concentrates on the physical side of looking for it) This missing aircraft is of particular interest to me as it was from our local aero club here in Hastings, NZ. I have a 'Slide' Presentation that I will be presenting at the event, and if all going could kindly download it (free) from my website first, (Link below) it would be of benefit as then you can prepare any questions you would like answers to, as there is a huge amount of information contained in them making it a little difficult to follow. That way, I'll be able to skip through the slides giving a general overview on the subject and so get through in the allotted 30 minute timeframe... allowing time for questions. www.findlostaircraft.co.nz/presentation%20downloads.htmlRegards to you all, and I really look forward to meeting you. It should be a terrific weekend! Gavin Grimmer

Yes, I have added a number of confirmed speakers to the list today, including Gavin, which will be great, and I have just had confirmation too that Doug Brooker will be speaking to us about his Spitfire, which nicely marks the 80th Anniversary of the type's first flight. It's going to be a great weekend.

I need suggestions for a good place to go for dinner as a group on the Saturday evening, somewhere central in Auckland I guess. Any ideas?

Wow, I am really saddened by the lack of interest being shown here. Probably will not bother in the future.

I have just received an email and replied to it, would love to get up there, at the moment travel is a little out off the question for me, but I am meeting Grant 'nuuumannn' at Wigram Museum on March 6th 10.00 AM before he head's home to Nelson in the afternoon, I'm sure we maybe could get a few Christchurch WONZ members maybe here for a club photo to add to the AUCKLAND FORUM MEET - 5th and 6th of March 2016 occasion.

I would be keen to do these meets but unfortunately I have prior commitments on both days.
I hope you keep these events running as I'd be keen to do more of them when I can.

Well - I'm keen for *both* days! I'm trying to rustle up a buddy for at least one of the days.
For the Ardmore meet, I'd be keen on trying to "kill two birds" and try to get some photos of the Albatros (WLM). Does anybody know who to contact for that?
Adam.

I have to put in an apology as well. Was hoping to get along at least one day, but circumstances have not worked out for me either. Sorry.

Is there a timetable/programme? I am thinking of driving up from Napier, but need to be back at a semi-reasonable time on Sunday evening for work........ At this stage, and it may change, it stands thus: Day One: Don Subritzky's place (17 Escott Road, Dairy Flat) 10.00am Start and Intro 10.30am Don Subritzky speaking 11.10am Dick Lambert (Dam Busters pilot) 12.00pm Lunch (provided by the Subritzky family) 1.00pm Frank Culliford (Corsair pilot) 1.40pm Larry Hill 2.20pm Ron Wilson (Sunderland Restoration) 3.00pm Mick Murray (Canberra Navigator) Saturday Night Evening Meal Day Two: NZ Warbirds Hangar, Ardmore 10.00am Start and Intro 10.30am Doug Brooker (on the Spifire) 11.10am Bryan Cox (Introduction to the Kittyhawk talk), and flying for TV with Phil Keoghan (DVD) 12.00pm Lunch (provide your own) plus Bryan has a slide show of WWII photos to run through lunch for those interested 1.00pm Jon Pote on MOTAT 1.30pm Gavin Grimmer (on the lost Tiger Moth) 2.00pm Ric Martini on the Lost Airmen of Buchenvald (his father was one of them) 2.40pm Warren Denholm (Avspecs Mosquito restorations) We may have a couple more speakers in the mix plus time for people to mix and mingle. and I envisage each day will end the formal part around 4.30pm or shortly thereafter. At the end of the Sunday event the NZ Warbirds Association will welcome us into their bar. If anyone wants to say a few words, now's your time to approach me and ask for a slot.

And just after I posted the schedule above I finally managed to get hold of and confirm another speaker, one I am very excited about: Mr. Dick Lambert will speak at Don Subritzky's on the 5th of March about his days flying the Lancasters in the RAF postwar, including as one of the film pilots for The Dambusters (1955)!! You may recall Dick's awesome photos here: rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/23144/dam-busters-movie
